My Philosophy of Education

Teachers prepare the next generation of children to grow into successful adults. These adults
will eventually fill every profession there is. Education is not only important for providing
students with knowledge but also to provide them with various life skills so they can be
successful when they leave school. As a teacher I will help students develop their social skills,
self-discipline, self-esteem, and responsibility.

No children are alike but all children can learn. With a caring and positive teacher every child
can be successful. As a teacher my job is to ensure that I am meeting the needs of all my
students. This can be accomplished by diversifying my instruction to ensure I provide every child
with what they need in order to be successful. By doing this, I believe students will be motivated
and engaged in their own learning process.

I believe students learn best by being actively involved and taking leadership in their learning.
Teachers should help their students learn the strategies they need to be an independent
learner. My role as a teacher is to provide guidance in the classroom. The student should be the
one working to gain knowledge. Students need to lead their own learning process and be
provided to work with and learn from their peers. High engagement instruction is key to active
learning. This can be accomplished by using hands-on experiences and opportunities to use
critical thinking in the classroom to make connections, find deeper meaning and purpose, and
truly learn the content.

The role of the student’s parent is to help their child through their education. To encourage and
support their learning. Teachers and parents work together to ensure each student can
succeed. This can be done by ongoing communication between both parties. As a teacher I can
send reminders to parents or concerns regarding the student via email or phone call. A parent
can call me or send me an email if they have questions regarding their child's learning or
behavior. I want all of my student’s parents to know that my goal is for their child to succeed. As
a community everyone should encourage students to do their best and support one another as
much as they can. This can be done by coming together at school events to show support to the
children or by helping a student by providing them with knowledge that they have gained.

My goal is to create a safe and positive environment for all of my students. Expectations should
be set and discussed with the students at the beginning of the year. My students will know what
I expect from them and what they can expect from me as their teacher. I will promote positive
peer relationships. My students will know that my classroom is a safe place where they can be
themselves.
