Classroom Rules and Consequences

Rules in my classroom include being respectful and kind to everyone including

yourself. Bring all required materials to class. Raise your hand to speak and to leave

your seat. Be on time, in the room at the required time and preparing for the class. Any

other class rules will be set by the students as will the consequences. Consequences

for the set rules will start with a warning, followed by speaking with the student one-on-

one this can include a change of behavior plan, if the behavior continues a call home

will result, the final result will be a referral to the office. These consequences are used

when there is serious disregard for the main rules of the class and school. All attempts

will be made to handle the situation within the class and between the student and the

teacher. Parents and the principle will only be used when no other option has worked.

All students will be treated equally and will have all considerations taken into account

including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This would include any student

with an IEP and a 504 plan.

These rules align with my personal philosophy as they are designed for students

to take responsibility for their actions and to understand that there are consequences

when rules are broken. My job as a teacher is to prepare the future generation to be

successful adults. The rules within the classroom will teach responsibility and self-

discipline.
