CONTEXT
5-S Principles have been widely practiced in Japan since 1980. Initially, this concept was
adopted by manufacturing industries across the globe, but now it has been implemented by

through the application of 5-S have generated a lot of interest and has become one of the
powerful tools to improve productivity and quality of all processes.

Therefore, today 5-S is being used all over the world to prepare the ground for better
workplace organization. It also reduces stress of individuals managing operations by ensuring
that the work area and the surrounding are better organized, neat and clean, to permit healthy
