Contributors to information
technology database
Information technology results from the contributions of a large number of people
over a long period of time.

Research
Using the list of people in the textbook as a starting point, investigate the people
involved in the development of information technology. You will need to use
various sources including books, magazines and the Internet.
For each person, you will need to find the following details:
• their name
• their place of birth
• their date of birth
• their date of death
• their contribution to the development of information technology.

Presentation
The information gathered should be presented as a database.
You will need to create a new database using Microsoft Works, Microsoft Access,
Filemaker Pro, Appleworks or similar.
The fields you create will be:
• family name
• given name
• birth date
• death date
• contribution.
1 Enter the data you have collected into the database.
2 Sort the list alphabetically by family name.
3 Print the alphabetical order list as a table with five columns.
4 In a separate word processed document, list your sources of information.
