SERVICE PACK FOR THE FORD SD TOUCHSCREEN NAVIGATION SYSTEM

The service pack consists of two Service-CDs that need to be used depending on the installed
navigation SD card to update the system.

If the wrong service CD is used, the update process MUST NOT be interrupted.
When finished the correct CD must then be used to update the navigation system

Updating with the wrong CD may cause malfunction of the navigation device.
Please read the update instructions carefully and proceed according to the steps described here.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON SOFTWARE UPDATE


Attention!
There must be no voltage drops / spikes during the update.

Therefore, make sure when starting and during the update that there is no electrical load
(eg door mirror / front / rear window demister are switched off).

Additionally, make sure that the engine is started before the launch of the update and is not
switched off until the update is complete

Alternatively, connect to external power source with sufficient battery capacity (charger)
when running the engine is not allowed (Workshops without exhaust extraction).

At the start and middle of an update, the engine should not be started.

Do not press any buttons on the navigation unit during the entire update process.

AFTER THE SW UPDATE


The deactivation of the key code mask after code entry can be delayed by a few seconds
(first entry after software update).

After the software update, it may happen that despite activated human voice, the audible
navigation instructions no longer be issued.

In this case, the system must be completely powered down once for at least 15 min while
the vehicle with doors closed during this time.
UPDATE SCHEDULE
For the update, the following steps are necessary.
• Engine start / Connect to external power source
• Switch on the navigation device
• Return navigation unit ‘Factory Settings’
• Disable Navigation SD card
• Remove Navigation SD card
• Insert appropriate Service CD
• Update process start
• Update process complete

START
Start the engine, or connect to alternative external power source with sufficient battery
capacity (charger).

SWITCH ON NAVIGATION SYSTEM


Switch off the navigation system by pressing the on/off knob one if engine is already
running or turn the ignition key to position 1 or 2, if a secure external power source is
connected.

DELETE DESTINATION MEMORY


Return device to ‘Factory Settings’ prior to update otherwise error messages may be
generated after a successful software update.

To delete the navigation targets in the target storage, please proceed as follows:
• Press the "MENU" button
• Touch the on-screen "Factory Settings" button.
• Reset “Nav/Map Settings”, “Destination Memory” and System Settings” to default
• Confirm the resetting of the above by pressing the on-screen "Yes" button.

DISABLE NAVIGATION SD CARD


Before removing the navigation SD card, it must be ejected in the service menu.
• Press the "NAV" and "MENU" buttons simultaneously.
The “Dealer Service” menu will appear on screen.
• Touch the "Eject SD Card”.
The SD card is logged off the system and can be removed.

REMOVE NAVIGATION SD CARD


To remove the SD card from the unit, the cover behind the volume control must be removed.
• Carefully pull the volume button off the device.
• Use your finger to pry the cover from the unit.

• Press the cover down slightly.


• Gently pull the cover away from the device.
The SD card is located right below the display.
• Gently press the SD card and let go and the SD card will pop out.
• Remove the SD card from the card reader and store safely.
INSERT THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE CD
Depending on the existing navigation SD card you must select the appropriate update CD.
• If SD card part number is BS7T-19H449-CAA or BS7T-19H449-CBA, use update CD1
(Blue Label).

• If SD card part number is BS7T-19H449-CAB, BS7T-19H449-CAC, BS7T-19H449-CBB or


BS7T-19H449-CBC, use update CD2 (Black Label).

START UPDATE PROCESS


• Insert the appropriate service CD into the CD slot

The “Download” window appears.

The “Download” window will be displayed (“Installed Version” and “CD Version” of
system software will be displayed).

• Touch the on-screen "Next" button to start the update process.


A progress bar will appear.

• Wait until the update is complete.


The update process takes about 15-20 minutes.

After the download process, the system will be restarted.

Should the system not restart automatically, press the on/off button.

After the system has restarted, the input of security codes is required. The deactivation
of the security code after your input can be delayed by a few seconds (first entry after
software update).
COMPLETE UPDATE PROCESS
• After the end of the update process, the Service CD is automatically ejected and can be
removed.

If the Service CD is not removed after 10 second, it will be automatically reloaded and
the “Download” screen will appear once again.

• If this should happen, touch the on-screen "Cancel" button, and the CD will be ejected
again.

• Insert the previously removed navigation SD card into the SD card slot.

Depending on the navigation SD card you use, the “Download” window may appear.

• In this should happen, touch the on-screen "Next" button to proceed with the update.

After another short download, the update is complete.

ATTACH COVER
• Position the rounded spring clip spring on the plastic ribs, according to the figure below.

• Push the cover from the top of the unit.


• Press down slightly so that the spring is compressed.

• Press the cover completely in the fascia until it locks into place.
• Refit the volume knob to finish.

NEW SETTINGS
Please note that the settings for map, navigation, radio, screen, time, sound, language and
voice control will be reset to the factory settings after a successful software update.
