Cluster 4 pummels Cluster 8 on straight sets

The volleybelles of cluster 4 soared to the top spot of the standing in the Division Youth Camp
volleyball girls tournament after defeating Cluster 8 in straight sets on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Lanao del
Norte National Comprehensive High School volleyball court.

Jella Marie Agapia who hails from Lala National High School, had herself a homecoming with 16
points; 9 attacks, 2 blocks, 3 assists and 2 aces spearheading the Cluster 4 volleybelles in their second
straight win.

“Kabalo ko nga maayo jud sila, pero amo jud ning tarungon para sa among cluster”, said Cluster
8 captain Beatrice Capangpangan.

The match began fierce right away, with long rallies that no one is willing to let go. But the series
of errors from Cluster 8 took a toll on their standing and gave the upper hand to the opponents. In
addition, side spiker Maya Tolero from Cluster 4 made six remarkable spikes that left the rivaling team
overwhelmed, giving the break to the team to win the set with much ease.

Veteran spiker Cindy Lim sparked the Cluster 8’s resurgence, and with her at the forefront, the
team slowly clawed their way back. Cluster 4 volleybelles smelled the other team’s determination and
stepped up their game as well. Agapia’s solid blocks and strong spikes brought them back to rhythm and
swayed the game to their side, winning the 2nd set, 25-20.

Unfortunately for Cluster 8, it was Cluster 4 that executed better down the stretch. Agapia came
up with a clutch block of Hannah Mendiola and Capangpangan sent her next attack to the net. Cluster 4
setter Leah Mercedes, who has struggled with timing her attacks all game long, redeemed herself with
the 3-0 play that won them the match.

“Maayo jud sila, though we tried our best, pero I think it was not enough” said Cluster 8 libero
Jolina Cyril Sayre.
