anim na assists.
Dahil dito, lalong rumatsada sina Brownlee at Nards Pinto upang kunin ang bentahe.

"We are happy [that] we are in the semifinals but hindi kami pwedeng tumigil. Ang
importante is we have to be better than our best every day and every game," Petro
Gazz coach Oliver Almadro said.
"We have to exceed expectations. Expected for us to prepare but we have to exceed
that preparation as a team lang. Kailangan may sarili silang prepartion and we have to
be steady in our will," he added.
Five Angels breached the double-digit mark led by Grethel Soltones, who highlighted an
all-around showing with 20 points off 16 attacks, four aces to go along with 12 digs.
Djanel Cheng overturned a 1-4 Angels' deficit in the fourth set with back-to-back 1-2
plays and orchestrated the balanced scoring of Petro Gazz with 25 excellent sets on top
of four points.
Jonah Sabete tallied a triple double of 11 points, 17 digs and 10-of-19 receptions, while
Aiza Maizo Pontillas chipped in 15 points on 14 attacks for the Angels.
League-leading best blocker Remy Palma and MJ Phillips combined for five of the
Angels' six blocks on top of their 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Erika Raagas led the Power Chargers with 19 points on 16 attacks, two blocks and an
ace as well as 11 receptions to make up for a sub-par game from Dindin Santiago-
Manabat, who was limited to nine points. She was benched in the third and fourth sets.

Brownlee drops 38 as Ginebra holds off
Terrafirma to book Top 4 spot
ÀNTIPOLO - Justin Brownlee and John Pinto connived in the stretch run to help Barangay
Ginebra put away a tough-fighting Terrafirma side, 109-104 Wednesday night in the PBA
Governors Cup.
Credit that to Pinto hitting a huge three that broke the game’s last deadlock and put the
Kings ahead, 105-102, before Brownlee scored on driving lay up to counter a basket by
Jordan Williams to keep the team afloat, 107-104, with 61 seconds to play.
Brownlee finished with 38 big points including 19 in the final period, while Christian
Standhardinger churned out another all-around numbers of 23 points, 12 rebounds, and
six assists for the Kings, who have now overtaken San Miguel (7-2) at solo second.
“Tonight’s game was absolutely crucial. It was like a championship game for us,” said
Ginebra coach Tim Cone. “We really need to come out and get this.
Jamie Malonzo added 16 points, including nine points from beyond the arc, and scored the
game-clinching basket with an emphatic two-handed dunk with 13 seconds left. Pinto finished
with nine points, six assists, and four rebounds.
The Kings will play league leader TNT Tropang Giga (8-1) in their final assignment in the
eliminations.
Terrafirma ended its campaign with a 2-9 record and let another close game slipped away after
losing to Magnolia Hotshots in overtime last week, 121-115.
Williams held his own in his match up with Brownlee, torching Ginebra for 35 points including 6-
of-15 from beyond the arc.
Juami Tiongson had 18, converting 4-of-8 from three-point range, where the Dyip shot a high 45
percent (19-of-42).
Eric Camson had 11 points and seven rebounds, including a follow up basket off a missed shot
by Williams to tie the game for the last time at 102.
Table Tennis
Smash Pilipinas snagged four podium finishes with a 2-0-2 gold-silver-bronze medal tally.
“The results show what our athletes can do, given our support. We vow to join more
tournaments in the future for them to gain more exposure and experience,” PBAD
Vice President Jude Turcuato said.
Alvin Morada and Yssa Leonardo won mixed doubles gold, 21-19, 18-21, 22-20, over
India’s Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath.
Morada and Christian Bernardo also emerged as the champions of the men’s doubles
category after trouncing India’s Dhruv Rawat and Chirag Sen, 21-12, 21-13.
Bernado’s pairing with Thea Pomar resulted in a bronze medal finish after bowing to
Karunakaran and Variyath 17-21, 21-16, 14-21.
Smash’s last podium finish was reaped by the tandem of Pomar and Leonardo in
women’s doubles play after a loss to eventual champions Srivedya Gurazada and
Poorvisha S Ram, also of India, 19-21, 14-21.
For Smash Pilipinas head coach Rosman Razak, the back-to-back games will be of big
help to the team, especially heading forward in future games where the same schedule
may apply.
“The players are starting to get the feel of playing continuously, and, hopefully, we
will continue to improve and get more success.”
Up next for Smash is the Benin International 2022 at Atlantique, Benin which started
Friday and will span until Sunday.
