SESSION OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, LAC participants should be able to:

1. Enhance the numeracy and literacy skills of students to improve their


performance in science.
2. Have a periodic assessment on concepts or topics taught in every grade level.
3. Attend seminars and trainings to update on the recent trends in teaching
Science.

MATERIAL USED: LED TV


ACTIVITIES:

Preliminaries
The session started with a prayer led by Ms Lalaine H. Acain. This was followed
by the checking of Attendance by Mrs. Lelibeth E. Pepania
Science Mother Club Chairman, Mrs Myrna P. Fiel presented the objectives of
the LAC session.

PROBLEMS/ISSUES/CONCERNS SURFACED DURING THE SESSION:

The participants identified the top problems in their respective classes.


These are the following:

1. Students have a very low performance especially in problem solving.


Teachers have found out that students had a difficulty in dealing with mathematical
problems due to poor reading comprehension and basic mathematical skills.
2. No mastery of concepts among students due to discontinuity of topics from
one grade level to another.
3. Teachers need more trainings/seminars to enhance teaching in Science.

RECOMMENDATIONS PROVIDED BY THE GROUP:

To improve students’ performance, teachers agreed on the following solutions:

POINTS OF AGREEMENT REACHED:

Require students to submit weekly reading texts related to Science.

Provide weekly enhancement activities or problem sheets for students practice


and mastery.

Conduct a periodic alignment of topics per quarter.

Encourage the school head to send Science teachers to trainings and seminars
for further professional development.
