Introduction
Connecting TradeGuider to an
EOD Data Source
TradeGuider requires End-of-Day (EOD) data in the MetaStock or CompuTrac
format. We recommend that you use good quality data from a reputable source for
TradeGuider. There are a large number of data providers available worldwide, and it
can be a time-consuming task to find a vendor in your area – that’s why we’ve
compiled this directory to help you.
This manual will help you to:
• Choose a MetaStock end-of-day (EOD) data source in your area.

• Identify ‘free’ data sources and the tools required to retrieve the data.
• Suggest utilities to help you carry out certain tasks, such as portfolio management,
file organisation, and data conversion.
IMPORTANT: We understand that some of our customers may be on a tight

budget. However, we would not recommend the use of data from
free sources if you are serious about your trading or investing.
Like most things in life, you get what you pay for, and the quality
of free data is insufficient for the serious professional. This
directory is a good starting point for your data requirements.

About This Manual
If you don’t have an EOD data feed at the moment, check through this directory for
a service in your country. This manual is part of a documentation suite that helps
you become acquainted with the software.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you take the time to refer to the Read Me First!
document. It contains vital information about any known issues
that you should be aware of.
The Getting Started guide is designed to get you up and running with TradeGuider
as quickly as possible.
For more help with the TradeGuider indicators and methodology, read the Master
the Markets book.
The Glossary will help you come up to speed with various terms that are frequently
used as part of the Volume Spread Analysis (VSA) methodology.
The Basic Trading Guide is a simple guide to trading, which will teach you a
number of common-sense techniques to get started in your trading or investing.
For a quick tour around the screen, you’ll find the Quick Reference Card useful to
help you learn what the various buttons and toolbars do.
For more detailed information regarding the TradeGuider product, please refer to the
Video User’s Manual.
There is also a separate video series to provide you with a walkthrough of using
TradeGuider’s tools to good effect.
