Fire Evacuation Drill carried out in Shalom Hills

International School on 21st September’13

A Fire Evacuation Drill was carried out for the Middle Wing and Senior Wing teachers of Shalom Hills International
School on 21st September’13. The teachers were explained important rules and measures to be employed in case of outbreak
of fire:
· Use of fire extinguishers to control small fire; teachers were practically demonstrated how the fire extinguishers
are to be used.
1. In case the intensity of fire is more, then hose pipes are to be pressed into service. The teachers learnt practically how to
remove these pipes, install the nozzle, start the water taps and then hold the pipes to target the place/site on fire.
2. If the intensity of fire is less, the same can be controlled with small hose pipes where the pressure of water is less.
3. Then the evacuation plan for vacating the building on fire was demonstrated. All the teachers were stationed in different
classrooms. Specific instructions were given by the accreditation team regarding the steps to be followed for evacuation
of building. The teacher’s role being very important at this time; they were sensitized about how to handle the
students/situation without panicking and help the whole team to evacuate all the floors. Practical demonstration of the same
