Adjectives-
describing words
 DESCRIPTIVE ADJECTIVES
● tell us about the quality or kind of a noun or pronoun.
Example:
1. I don’t like cold weather. (The adjective cold modifies the noun
weather. Cold is a descriptive adjective that qualifies the weather
by saying it has a low temperature.)
2. Her clothes are really expensive. (The adjective expensive
modifies the noun clothes. Expensive is a descriptive adjective
that tells us the clothes cost a lot of money.)
3. We used red, green, and orange paint. (The adjectives red, green,
and orange modify the noun paint. All three of these adjectives
are descriptive adjectives that say what color the paint was.)
DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVE
 Adjectives derived from proper nouns are
called proper adjectives.
 They are easily recognizable because they
always start with capital letters.
Example:
1. I love Filipino food.
2. Soong JO Ki is a South Korean actor.
ORDINAL ADJECTIVES
 adjective indicates the position of a noun or a
pronoun in a series
Example:
1. Earth is the third planet from the sun.
2. Litan is the first original family that lives in
Brgy. Sto. Niño
3. Municipality of Ibaan belongs to fourth
congressional districts.
CARDINAL ADJECTIVES
 Expresses a precise quantity of the noun that it
accompanies.
 It answers the question “How many”
Example:
1. Sto. Niño Elementary School have 451
enrolled learners.
2. There are fifteen teachers in Sto. Niño
Elementary School.
COMPOUND ADJECTIVES
 made up of two or more words put together.
They are usually hyphenated (-) to avoid
confusion.
Example:
1. She adopted a two-year-old cat.
2. He is an obedient and well-behaved dog.
