Process
UCAS
• Even if you are still not sure you
want to go to university or what
course you want to study it helps
to start your application early.

• The process can be confusing but


there is lots of help out there.
Application details
• Needs to be totally completed by:

Friday 21 st November
• If you have it done before then the
sooner your application is competed the
better!

• This is 10 weeks into the new term!

Medicine or Veterinary your application needs
to be totally completed by:

Friday 1 st October

What does the
application asks for?
You'll be asked to complete the following
sections through Apply:
1. Registration
2. Personal details
3. Additional information (UK applicants
only)
4. Choices
5. Education
6. Employment
7. Personal statement
8. Reference
9. Declaration
10. Pay and send
UCAS ‘APPLY’ SITE

• Allows applicant to view own record

• 24 hours 7 days per week access

• Shows choices, offers, personal


information

• Password on Acknowledgement letter

• Can use it to reply to offers


UCAS BUZZ WORD
During the application process UCAS will
ask you for a buzzword. This tells us and
UCAS that you belong to Hardenhuish
School and that we will be writing your
references. The buzzword is:

hughes15
Cost of Applying
• If you apply to more than one course,
university or college, the cost is £21. If
you only apply to one course at one
university or college, you pay £11.

• You must pay online via card, until you


pay we can’t initiate references and
send it off.
Common Problems with
Applications
• Incorrect date of birth
• Incorrect/missing residential category
• Incorrect/missing fee code (2)
• Choices incorrectly entered
• Name and address only for referee
• Wrong exam boards entered for GCSE’s
set.
• Not putting A levels and AS levels
Common Problems with
Statements
• Poor presentation, structure and grammar

• Use all the space provided. There are 47 lines of


text filling 30 is not enough.

• Repeats all the information you are asked to


complete on the rest of the form.

• Keep a copy for reference, print it out,


check it!

• Too much waffle


Tips for completing your
UCAS application
• It will take you a couple of hours to complete
your application so don’t leave it till the last
minute (that is without writing your personal
statement).

• If asked you will need to choose the default


group to go into.

• Your Fee Code is: 2 (As you want the


government to pay most of your fees so
you only have to pay £3,290)
