How to Download and Install Simscape Fluids

1. Create a MathWorks account (if you don't already have one).

2. After creating your account, click on the Simscape Fluids download link for the course.
3. Enter your Mathworks account credentials if requested.
4. Click on the "Download MATLAB" button to download the installer program.
5. Open and run the installer program.

Simscape Fluids

"Creating and Simulating a Simple Hydraulic Model"

A tutorial that takes a user through building a directional control valve circuit with piston loaded by
spring, mass, damper. A good place to start for new users.

"Hydraulic Simulation with SimHydraulics"

Video tutorial (33 min). Goes through the same tutorial as above, but in video form.

Simscape Fluids Model Examples

A set of example models.

Simscape
Simscape is the physical system modelling engine that Simscape Fluids is built on top of. Here are
some MathWorks resources for Simscape.

Short YouTube Tutorials

MathWorks created a set of short YouTube video tutorials for this course, that describe the basics of
MATLAB, Simulink, graphical models in Simulink and physical models in Simscape. We strongly
recommend viewing these tutorials if you are new to MATLAB, Simulink or Simscape.

MATLAB/Simulink Introductions

 What is MATLAB?
 What is Simulink?

Graphical Models in Simulink

 Modifying Block Parameters

 Creating Subsystems
 Improving Model Readability
 Modeling Algebraic Equations

Physical Models in Simscape

 Physical Modeling with Simscape

 Simulating Physical Models

Additional Simscape Fluids Tips

 For a quick way to create a new model, type “ssc_new” at the MATLAB command prompt. This
will start a new model with some of the blocks needed for any Simscape model and will change
the solver to ode23t.
 For the details on each model block, including its internal equations and assumptions, double
click on the block in the library, then click on Help.
