Assignment – 2 (Abhishek Dhobe – BT15CME021)

As we all know design thinking and innovation in engineering has no specific curriculum to
follow, because if there is a curriculum innovation is nearly impossible thinking. But, there is a
specific flow of how design thinking work as we discussed in the classroom.

As a designer/engineer to identify a problem we should be able to ask the ‘Right Question’. Guy
Kawasaki is an American Evangelist who have written various books and has a special interest in
Design Thinking and Grass Root innovation in the video (The art of innovation - Guy Kawasaki -
TEDxBerkeley) he talks how apple innovates.( https://guykawasaki.com/speeches/)

Though we more or less covered the design thinking model in class, But in my case I think I was
unable to comprehend in the class itself so for in depth understanding of those concepts the
eBooks (Design Thinking Understanding How Designers Think and Work & Design Thinking
Research - Taking Breakthrough Innovation Home) helped me a lot, so I will recommend giving
it a read.

As we all know there were many products and startups who tried to market similar product
such a iPad like the Windows Tablet but they failed to grasp the crowd. So apart from
developing product marketing it is also a major aspect of design thinking. In the video (Z1) CPO
of Airbnb one of the leaders in marketing innovations has told his tale of how they made a
U-turn from Losses to Profits with help of Grassroots Innovation. To the point it is said that
Airbnb is most innovative company in USA.

In the PDF D.school I found it as an interesting way to graphically display Design Thinking
Methods.
