Duba Cave in Baggao, Cagayan

Duba cave is not only a wet river cave but a swimming cave. Almost all passages with water,
which is about 70% of the way to Skylight Falls, have a large breakdowns or walls without
handholds along the side so the only way through is to swim. Because of this, it is highly
recommended that personal floatation devices (PFD’S) are used by all entering the cave. This
will ensure a safe return trip especially after the long swim-in.

Duba Cave Unerground River is located in San Miguel, Baggao, Cagayan. A perfect place for
swimming and for boating adventure. After an invigorating dip in the water, explore the caves
and feel the self-revealing ambiance of the icicle formed stalactites and the dripping
stalagmites penetrated by the rays of the sun over a peeping cove. At dusk, the awesome
“circadian flight’’ of bats in various formation is the most awaited part of the adventure.
Claveria Beach

Claveria Beach is a long stretch of powdery cream (to gray) sand hugged by azure sea. From
here, you can see the distant Apo Lakay-Lakay on Taggat Lagoon. Claveria beach seems like a
favorite hang out of locals especially at sundown. It is the best undoubtedly one of the best
spots to view sunset in the Philippines.

Take a tricycle from Claveria town proper.
Portabaga Falls: A Northern Beauty Waiting to be Explored

Less than an hour away from Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte is the Portabaga Falls in Cagayan, where
water cascades down beautifully into a stream and connects to three man-made pools, hidden
inside a natural forest in the hilly part of the town of Sta. Praxedes.

The waterfall is about 15 meters high. Below it is an area converted into a park and resort with
huts and rooms that can be rented. There are three pools where kids and adults can swim. Do
take note, however, that they don’t have a lifeguard on duty (there might be, but we haven’t
seen them at the time we went there) and there are really slippery stones at the bottom of the
falls, so be sure to take care of yourself.

The best thing about this is that you can enjoy this beauty at a really cheap price. Entrance fee
is only Php10 for each person, and it’s been like that for years. For tourists who came from far
places, they have available rooms that can be rented during the night. The room rate ranges
from Php 1,200 to Php 3,000.
