Some General Considerations:


In the first place we want to thank for the purchase to him of the plans for armed either the

Furnace:

Is constructed it from a round bar (sinking) of steel SAE 1045 or, if a very high quality is

Piston:

Hopper:

The winch or lathe can also be used, mounting the work in the car toolholder. Only in case
"it does not have another alternative" uses a table drilling machine, finishing the holes with

Anchorage cubes of the injector arm:

Inyectora handle and links of traction:

They take control of sheet of steel SAE 1010 or 1045. It is used sheet of one inch and
quarter of wide by a quarter of inch of thickness for the same handle and the wide one but
of a eighth of thickness for the links (to see Figure 12).

End of fixation of columns (side injection):

Columns of guide of the impelling bar of the piston:

They take control of sinking round and calibrated of steel SAE 1045, of 16 mm of diameter,
threading with the winch the ends to ø 5/8 "NF, according to is indicated in Figure 14. It
must have well-taken care of to obtain a precise trim of the bar in the plate of the winch, in
order that its axis with the one of the spirals agrees.

Main-body columns:

They are constructed with two sections of sinking round and calibrated of diameter steel
SAE 1045 ø 16 mm, threading his ends ø 5/8"NF, by means of the winch and after a careful
trim, as one is in Figure 15.

End of fixation of main-body columns (side closes):

It`s used an iron piece 2" angle and a quarter of inch of thickness of wing (to see Figure
16). The three holes of ø 16 mm will serve to fix the main-body columns and the rejected
bar of the machine. The holes threaded of ø 5/16"W will be used to place individual screws
of one inch in length, with nut and Grower washer, that will act as tops of the operating
lever.

Expulsion bar:

Consists of a section of rod threaded of ø 5/8", according to Figure 17.

Anchorage cubes of the closing:

They are constructed with square steel bar SAE 1045, of one inch and quarter by side,
plished (to see Figure 18). The holes must be in perfect square, reason why it agrees to do
them with the winch.

Main-body columns:

They are constructed with two sections of sinking round and calibrated of diameter steel
SAE 1045 ø 16 mm, threading his ends ø 5/8"NF, by means of the winch and after a careful

Operating lever:

One takes control of sheet of steel SAE 1010 or 1045, of one inch and quarter of wide by a
quarter of inch of thickness. A pair of blend must take place as it is indicated in Figure 19.
The separation of the holes of 10 mm of diameter must exactly be the same one in each
one of the two sheets, reason why it is recommended to perforate them together.

Links of the closing:

Sheet of steel SAE 1010 or 1045 is used, of one inch and quarter of wide by a eighth of
inch of thickness. Four equal pieces are needed, being important that the distance between
the orifices is the same one (to see Figure 20).

Handles:

As much for the handle of injection as for the one of closing, they are constructed to
handles with rod threaded of ø ½ "W, according to Figure 21. Later each rod will be covered
with rubber hose pieces of appropriate length.

Joint of the closing to the movable plate:

Support cubes of the plate side fuze:

Plates:

The columns al has supported are destined assembly of the injector on two stringers of iron structural
tube of 40 mm x 40 mm and 1.5 mm of thickness of wall that constitute the large stone bench and

28. Figure 29 represents a stringer of the large stone bench. The length of these stringers is of 1,000

Pers:

Bushings:

Injector Assemble:

Figure 32 shows the first stage of the assemble of the machine, in which the cubes of
anchorage of the injector handle must be pricked to the bridle of assembly of the furnace.
For it a small piece of spiral rod or screw of ø 5/8"NF is useful, in order to center each cube
before finishing pricking it. Once pricked both cubes of anchorage, the main-body columns
will settle, beginning to both insert in them plates previously bushed. Place on the smooth
part of each column, so that they are separated the most possible one of the other so that
there is a suitable parallelism between the two columns.

Soon it places a nut of ø 5/8"NF (SAE 1010), the support of the plate side fuze, two nuts of
ø 5/8" NF (first of steel SAE 1010 and second of SAE 1045) and one Grower washer of ø
5/8", in that order, the threaded end of each main-body column (it see Figure 33). Next
place the bridle of assembly of the furnace, the dices of anchorage of the injector handle
(wiring for it the columns), it inserts the thorns of the cubes and tightens the nut next to the

bridle in each column. Next (to see Figure 34) places a nut of ø 5/8"W (SAE 1045) followed
of a Grower washer of ø 5/8" in each one of the two columns guides of the impelling bar of
the piston. Install the columns to the cubes and tightens each nut. Verify that the sliding of
the impelling bar of the piston is smooth. In this point the armed stage would have been
reached of that shows Figure 35.

Next it installs the joints of the closing to the movable plate, by means of the four Allen
screws of ø ¼ "W x 1". Next, it arms the closing mechanism, according to Figure 36. Once
On guard the anchorage cubes along with the operating lever, before inserting the set in the
main-body columns, nut in each one of them individual nuts of ø 5/8"NF of steel SAE 1010.
Next it places the closing in the columns and put two nuts of ø 5/8"NF, first of SAE 1010 and
second of SAE 1045, in each column. Regulate and you tighten the four nuts of ø ½ "W
(SAE 1045) of the handle of the operating lever so that its movement is smooth. Instal now
a nut of ø 5/8"W (SAE 1045) in the free spiral ends of each one of the columns guides of
the impelling bar of the piston. Now install the ends of fixation to the large stone bench of
each pair of columns. Place Grower washers and nuts (steel SAE 1045) in each spiral,
without tightening. Next present the set over the stringers of the large stone bench.
Regulate and finally it tightens the nuts so that the inferior holes of the ends of fixation are
aligned with those of the stringers.

Next install in the inferior edge of the bridle of assembly of the furnace both screws of
support for the large stone bench, ø 5/16"W x 1 ¼", each one with nut and Grower washer.
put all the possible one, but maintaining the nuts loose. Next, it puts in between the ends of
fixation and the stringers of large stone bench the columns aluminum support. W x 2 places
the screws of ø 5/16"¼" and force it with nuts and Grower washers.

Relax the screws of support of the assembly bridle until their heads touch the large stone
bench stringers and tighten then the nuts. Now put two screws of ø 5/16"W x 1", tops of the
operating lever, in the corresponding end of fixation and from down upwards. Previously, it
places in each screw a nut and a Grower washer. Support the operating lever on the ends
of the screws and, before tightening the nuts, it regulates the height so that the handle is
practically horizontal On guard (to see Figure 37). Next, it installs the links of the closing by
means of corresponding per to us of joint and putting in flat washers. Unite per to us with
Seeger washers, using the special clamps that exist for such aim. Verify the smooth
movement of the movable plate

Now place the expulsora bar according to is indicated in Figure 38. Steel W uses nuts of ø
5/8"SAE 1045. Next it installs the serpentine of refrigeration and the hopper of load in the
furnace, with the piston inside. Install in the assembly bridle and fix it with the nut of ø 1 ¼
"NF. ½ installs the piston in the impelling bar by means of two nuts of ø "W (steel SAE
1010). W also places the rods threaded of ø 5/16"(to see Figure 39). Next put both screws
of ø 5/16"W x 3/8", putting in Grower washers, in the end of fixation, in order to complete
the dispenser. Now it arms to the injector handle and the links of traction of the impelling bar
of the piston, as it is indicated in Figure 40. Verify that the movement of the bar is smooth.

Finally, it installs the resistance firmly type jacket in the frontal end of the furnace, tightening
it, and places the tip. Reached east point, the mechanical part of the machine completely is
armed. We are going to consider the part now electrical, integrated by the timer and the
pryometer.

Timer:

Each cycle of injection suitably controls by means of an only timer, given the simplicity of
the machine. At the moment commercial timers are obtained very economic. It must be able
to select times between 1 and 60 seconds, although it is difficult that the operation of a mold
corresponds to such extreme times. Most usual it is a time of 5 or 6 seconds, for cooled
molds or, and about 30 to 40 seconds when the refrigeration is not very effective or it deals
with injected pieces of heavy wall, for which a greater time of retention is required. The
timer will be started up, in each cycle, by the operating lever. When closing the mold, the
handle acts on microswitch. It agrees to install this last in a plate or aluminum profile
mounted as well in the end of fixation. Although in detail this depends on which is the model
of microswitch which it is had, Figure 41 suggests a way to install it in which one takes
advantage of the top screws of the operating lever. The timer is an electronics equivalent to
a switch with retardation, which connects certain time automatically after microswitch has
been closed. The operator receives the warning of which the selected time to open the mold
has passed, thanks to the ignition of a lamp, the sound of a timbre or both things
simultaneously. The Necessary electrical circuit is outlined in Figure 42.

Pryometer:

For this type of machine two appropriate forms fundamentally exist to control the
temperature, that are the following ones:

a) Pryometer to termocupla and cocking mechanism An electronic pryometer allows to


select the temperature of work and activates or deactivates a cocking mechanism that
closes or opens the circuit of the resistance of heating of way to maintain the temperature of
the furnace sufficiently constant. Termocupla must be located in the furnace, near the
resistance, perforating and threading a blind hole in the wall of that one. If steel SAE 4140

b) Source of constant power and thermometer The temperature of the furnace is


established by the electrical power that gives to the resistance an adjustable device

(between 0 and 300 Watt) that the feed mechanism gives to the resistance, the temperature

Cabinet:

It is practical to install the timer and the pryometer within a mounted small cabinet in the

The large stone bench stringers have been prolonged of way to allow the installation of the

Lubrication:

Operation:

Modifications of the capacity of injection of the machine:

The capacity of injection of the machine is, according to its original design, of 6 grams. This
value has been chosen so that the hand effort necessary to operate the injector handle to a
rate of 5 to 10 cycles per minute does not lead to an excessive fatigue. It is possible to
increase until about 10 grams the injection capacity, being maintained the same previous
condition, replacing the piston of 13 mm of diameter by which it has 16 mm (it does not
change the diameter of the threaded part, that must continue being ø ½ "W) and prolonging
the length of the injector handle so that the holes of ø 1/2" are in favor separated of 660
mm, instead of 440 mm of the original design. The only difference that will be observed in
the work will be that it will have increased in 50 % the amplitude of the route of the handle.
Greater dimensions in the diameter of the piston are not recommendable since, when not
existing torp, a sufficiently homogenous plastic of the injectable mass would not be
obtained.

Saving of energy:

Although the electrical consumption of the machine is insignificant when is compared it with
the one of conventional machines, still a little can be reduced more. This will be obtained
covering the furnace with asbestos cardboard previously soaked with water (of way so that
form can be given him). Once dry the asbestos, will take place a smaller dissipation of the
heat of the resistance towards the surrounding air, having been needed then less electrical
power to obtain a same degree of heating of the furnace. Also, the asbestos will reduce the
risk of accidental burns.

Buying a Matrix:

When it decides that product goes has to make, it will need the mold or matrix. Resort to
people with experience in the manufacture of molds for the plastic industry and collate
several budgets. Remember that cheap it leaves expensive, but expensive not always
is better! To the matrix maker it will have to provide to him to certain information respect to
the necessities of the mold and type of injector to use. It is to say that at the time of making
the matrix, the distance between columns, the Maximum opening of the mold would be due
to consider (opening race), injection system (to piston in horizontal table) and finally the
radius of the tip injector (R12).

Of this form the matrix maker will know where to place the system extractor and the
refrigeration of the mold besides to determine the height of the matrix and the amount of
pieces or mouths that can be obtained. We left without clarifying some data so that You
