AIR CONDITIONING
Swiss International Lenana Mount is an environmentally friendly and sustainable hotel. The hotel
is built and positioned so that the air flows throughout the building and all floors allowing it to be
cooled using natural air.

BUSINESS/ COMPUTER SERVICES

For your convenience, we offer copying and printing for a nominal fee. In additional business
travelers will find a work desk and chair in every room with free Wi-Fi Internet access.

TRANSPORT SERVICES
We offer private and secure car transfers to and from the hotel.
Airport transfer is USD 25 for the car per way. Alternative routes are also available.

ELECTRONIC CARDS
The room electronic key cards given to you at check in allow access to all public areas as well as
to your room. The keys are issued for your security and according to the international security
standards.
In case you loose your electronic key cards please contact the Front Office by dialing (0) for
security reasons and to replace your electronic key card.
ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE
The electrical voltage in the entire hotel is 240V. There are multi plugs available in each room at
the work desk. If these plugs are not suitable for your devices, please contact the Front Office by
dialing (0) for assistance in getting the right converters for your devices.

FITNESS FACILITY
We offer our guests free use of our fitness center which is located at the far right from the
elevator on the 4th floor. Please not that these equipments are available for use by the residents
of the hotel and at the guests own risks.
Please visit your General Practioner should you have queries regarding your health status.
Children below the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES
Housekeeping services is available daily and it also includes the turndown service.
Should you wish that your room is cleaned at any time please place the MAKE UP MY ROOM door
hanger on your door, or dial (0) to speak to the Front Office team.
To change your bed sheets and towels please place them on the floor while considering our
environment.

LAUNDRY SERVICES
We offer laundry services and our delivery time is 24 hours. Please fill in and sign the laundry list
and place it on the bed along with the laundry requiring cleaning.

LOST & FOUND

All Lost & Found items are reported and stored by the Executive Housekeeper. Should you have
any inquiries please dial (0) to speak to the Front Office.

arrangements with our preferred, professional floral designers, or the florist of your choice.

Whether you need a wedding venue, conference space or an intimate business meeting venue,
our Eventives Meeting rooms offer many unique features and services to suit your needs.

Eventives Basel meeting room is located on the ground floor and it can host events in
classroom, theatre, banquet and conference layout with the doors open at the back, where tea
and coffee breaks and cocktail receptions can be organized.
Maximum capacity is 75 people.

Eventives Bern meeting room is also located on the ground floor and it can host guests for
board meetings, press conferences and with the door open at the back, tea breaks, cocktail
receptions can be organized.
Maximum capacity is 15 people.

Eventives Geneva meeting room is located on the first floor, adjacent to Swiss Café Restaurant
& Lounge. Its glass walls make it ideal for meetings or open plan for cocktails, receptions; with
an option to extend to Swiss Café Restaurant & Lounge area depending on the number of people

 EMERGENCY EVACUATION

The following arrangements have been made by Hotel Management to ensure fast and
professional action in case of an emergency:

1. Technical Installations:

Smoke Detectors:
Rising smoke triggers the alarm of the concerned area and sends a beeper signal to the hotel
internal fire crew. Through the signal the crew member can identify the type of alarm and the
area concerned.

Sprinkler System:
There are sprinklers installed throughout the whole building. These sprinklers will be activated at
temperatures above 50°C. After a sprinkler is activated the hotel internal fire crew will be
notified through their beeper and the sprinkler bell outside the luggage room will ring.

Emergency Buttons:
These will activate the alarm at the local firefighting department and the evacuation
announcements through the PA systems.

PA systems
In case of a necessary evacuation of the building, the start of evacuation procedures will be
announced through the PA system in three different languages: German, English and
French. Once the fire alarm / evacuation has been triggered you will hear a loud siren tone
followed by this announcement:
”Attention please! May I have your attention please. Due to a case of emergency, I would like to
ask you to leave the hotel for your own safety. Please stay calm and follow the instructions of
our trained staff. On the inside of your room door you will find the information regarding the
nearest emergency exit. Thank you!”

2. Escape Routes:
Green illuminated panels with white arrows point to the next emergency exit.

3. Lifts:
All lifts will immediately go to ground floor once a fire alarm has been activated.
DO NOT USE LIFTS IN CASE OF A FIRE!

4. Disabled Guests:
All disabled guests are registered at reception and housekeeping. A member of the firefighting
department will assist with evacuation.
 FIRE SAFETY

IMPORTANT – ALWAYS STAY CALM!

In case of a fire:

1. Press the fire emergency button closest to you; this will set the alarm for the local firefighting
department, the hotel fire crew and will start evacuation procedures

2. Call Guest Service by dialing (0)

3. Please advise the Guest Service Agent of:

● your name
● your location
● size and type of fire
● are people in danger

Please ensure that you are clearly understood by the Front Office Agent!
If possible – without endangering yourself:
● try to extinguish the fire
● close all doors and windows close to the fire
● register yourself back at reception

There are two assembly points in case of evacuation:

● Assembly Point 2: Exit Gate to the Parking

National Museum
The Nairobi National Museum was founded in 1920, and established
at its present location in 1929.

Railway Museum
The Nairobi Railway Museum was established in 1971 to preserve
and display the relics and records of the railways of East Africa and
is located adjacent to Nairobi railway station.

Karen Blixen
The Karen Blixen Museum, located 10 km outside of Nairobi, is the
former African home of Danish author Karen Blixen, famous for her
book Out of Africa which chronicles life at the estate.

Giraffe Center
The Giraffe Centre was started by Jock Leslie-Melville, the Kenyan
grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured a
baby giraffe to start a programme of breeding giraffe in captivity at

Karura Forest
Karura Forest is an urban forest in Nairobi. Features in the forest
include a waterfall, bamboo forest, marshland, Mau Mau caves and
an old church.

The orphanage caters for the welfare of orphaned Elephants and
Rhinos who are raised in the sanctuary and eventually released back

 SUSTAINABILITY

Green Building Construction

During the initial design of the Swiss International Lenana Mount, the local natural environment was considered to
design the facade and positioning of the hotel. This includes the sunshine and making the most of the “natural
daylight”, the airflow, making the building independent of air conditioning while keeping the hotel at a cool
temperature using fresh air circulation.

Steel structure
Swiss International Lenana Mount structure adopts the steel structure technology and it is “one of a kind” building
techniques used in Kenya. The choice of building with steel structures is because they are light to transport with an
accelerated rate of construction while remaining rigid. Today, constructing with steel structures is a method widely
used in the building of airports, stadiums and skyscrapers around the world. As steel has isotropic properties, its
structure is safer and easily manageable.

All the building components including its columns, beams and plates were designed with steel structures, making the
hotel building secure and durable.
With the reduced resources required to construct the Swiss International Lenana Mount hotel in comparison to
conventional construction method - this meant that the hotel was to be built in a limited time while being economical.

Investing in the local workforce

The proportion of local workforce increased from the initial 50% to 90% at present, with the improvement of their
skills in using new tools and equipment to meet the technical requirements of the building. The local workforce
underwent robust development initiatives with clear guidelines and objectives to ensure that the processes and the
hotel remain sustainable.

Green Building Operations

Electricity Saving
Using the following key technologies, Swiss International Lenana Mount’s power consumption remains at an all time
low of only 15% to that of conventional buildings.

Laid rainwater purification systems and solar panels on the roof contribute to saving water and electricity, thus lowering
the operation costs.
The use of fresh air circulation instead of the traditional cycle of air conditioning system greatly reduces the use of
energy.
The adoption of 100% LED lighting technologies complements the energy saving of the building.

Water Saving
The use of environmental friendly toilets with new toilet self-priming and recycle-swing cleaning function, means that
water consumption is 30% less than in conventionally built toilets.
The design of the recycled water system: the recycled water can be used for flushing the toilet, watering plants and
general cleaning.
Using a state of the art high tech system, the hotel plans to filter and sterilize its own water which in turn requires
no energy consumption.

Kitchen Environmental Treatment

Making use of fume exhausts and the high-voltage decomposition, 98% of the polluted air can be recycled before
being released into the environment.
Meal wastage is crushed and undergoes the fermentation treatment which is finally converted to fertilizer.
