GHIST

I.
Political or Religious controversy is rarely a conducive context for an introduction to serious
history. Such a context, nonetheless, provided my own introduction to the study of Philippine
History.
 More on Biases
 Anti-Catholic for the Pilipino
 The church oftentimes, they intervened what should be and what should not be read.

John S. started his essay with the life of Rizal. Because, Jose Rizal said “to foretell the destiny
of a nation it is important to know the story of her past.
 Rizal copied the Sucesos de los Islas or Historical event in the Philippine Island
 Hindi siya masyadong politicized or distorted.
 To rectify or correct the misconception.

 We will be able to judge our present better
 By nurturing our source of origin, we will be able to understand our present and reshape
our future.
 We were already civilized in the past but we were distinct.
 Different but not less
 Spaniards slowdown our development

a. Bipartite
a. (Injustices
and Oppression)

with nationalistic sentiment who write distorted story, the same way colonizer
did.
o It puts question on succeeding work.
o Mahalagang pag-aralan ang kasaysayan so that we makes sense back,
present and forward.

 Walang pinag-aralan. They keep us on ignorant. They did not make things accessible
for us.
 They’re trying to cover up the reality.
 It was not the lack of history. It is the lack of methods.
 May ikwekwento, may intensyong ikwento ngunit walang balangkas, walang
framework, walang mga hakbang at paraan. Gusto nilang magkwento ngunit wala
Pedro Paterno
 Biyak na bato
 Forgeries of the Signature po Padre Burgos (GOMBURZA)
 Kahit Pilipino siya, sinasabi niya that Christianity is essential for the Pilipino People. He

a role play.
