To begin, the smartboard and whiteboard are positioned at the front of the classroom in

order to drive student’s attention towards content when it is displayed. The bulletin board on the

right as soon as the students enter will contain the most prudent information such as rules,

reminders, assignments, exams, etc. The teacher’s desk is positioned off-center from the boards

to ensure clear lines of sight for students while displaying accessibility to them at all times. The

most notable aspect of this classroom setup would be the desktop and table style. This setup

would allow students to pull up a presentation in order to take notes, work on group projects as a

team where all are orientated towards the screen, and finally it will grant me easy access to all

students in order to render the most effective teaching. Along with this, the group tables will be

used for effective group collaboration which in a study conducted by the American Institutes for
Research said that 900 students at 4 different high schools indicated their learning needs were

better met through group assignments (Barshay, 2018).

The alternative seating in the classroom consists of the six desks and the circular rug in

the back of the class. The purpose of the three sets of two desks is to allow students who would

prefer to look at the SmartBoard and take notes the ability to do so while having the opportunity

to continue class collaboration with a singular partner. The sofa, beanbag chair, and regular chair

in the back of the classroom would be for students to use during less academically stressful

situations such as group projects or as a place for students to take a few minutes to re-focus in a

lesson. Also, the seating allows for students with any physical differentiations to move freely and

be able to stay connected with their fellow classmates. This is essential because according to a

2010 census there were 2.8 million students with some kind of temporary or permanent physical

disability (“Students With Physical…”, 2010).

The final aspects of this room are the storage systems and the two sinks in the back of the

room. The storage and shelf located behind the teacher’s desk are used to organize and

paperwork or assignments from students. The shelf will mostly be used to hold more personal

books that students may check out if they choose to read independently. The storage in the back

of the room is for classroom activity materials and other non-essential materials. The shelves will

be used to hold the largest chunk of the textbooks for the class and it is where the late

submissions or extra assignments will be placed or students to gather at the beginning of the

classes. The sinks are used primarily during labs, therefore they are not taking up a lot of space

or attention every day. This extra perk will just enhance those certain activities for the students to

increase content retention.
