AAI to expand Juhu Airport

Project Details :

• Airport Authority of India is planning to take up up gradation and modernization of Juhu Airport in Mumbai in Maharashtra.
• The initial plan includes extending the runway from 4,000 ft to 5,500 ft for accommodating private jets.
• The project is likely to be developed under public private partnership (PPP) mode.
• The project is expected to cost anywhere between Rs1000-2000 million.
• Global consultancy firm KPMG had submitted a study four months ago suggesting a public private partnership (PPP) model for
upgradation work.
• As of February 2011, the ministry is yet to approve the project and awarding bids for the project and actual development would
take a long time.
• The project will be completed in 2 to 3 years from zero date.

Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project – Updates

Project Details :

• Chennai Port Trust has reported progress on the .Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project' which has been under implementa-
tion for more than 10 years.
• The project envisages improvement of a 30-km road network in north Chennai that connects all the container freight station han-
dling containers for Chennai port.
• A special purpose vehicle , with equity participation from National Highways Authority of India , Ennore Port and the Chennai
Port Trust has been floated to implement the project.
• The project has been revised to Rs.6000 million (from the original Rs.1500 million)
• As of February 2011, work on the project has started.
• The project is expected to be completed in 2 years.
