 Datastage: Project

A Datastage Project is a separated environment on the server for jobs, table

definitions and routines.

• DataStage Jobs - Stages linked together to define data and process flow.

• Datastage Job Sequences - Specifies a sequence of DataStage jobs to be executed, and

actions to take depending on results.

• Datastage Shared Containers - Reusable job elements comprising stages and links.

• Datastage Stages – Built-in components that defines a particular process - sort,

aggregate,
transform.

• Table Definitions - A set of related columns definitions that are stored in the
Repository.

 Datastage: Jobs

An IBM InfoSphere DataStage job consists of individual stages connected together

through links.

There are three basic types of DataStage job:

• Server Jobs - Compiled and run on the DataStage server, support sequential
processing.

• Parallel Jobs - Compiled and run on the DataStage server, support parallel
processing on SMP, MPP, and cluster systems.

• Mainframe Jobs - Available with IBM Infosphere Datastage MVS Edition,

compiled and run on the mainframe.
