CONCLUSION

Bullying is categorically considered as an aggressive behaviour depicted by three instances. These

instances include hostile intent, imbalance of power, and repetition over a period of time. Bullying is
essentially an activity intended to hurt another person physically, mentally, and emotionally. There are
several types of bullying. It can come in any form. The most famous and rampant form of bullying is known
as Cyber-Bullying. By definition, cyber bullying is the employment of technology to badger, frighten,
humiliate, or target another person.

The researchers believe that bullying and cyber-bullying should never be tolerated. It should never
be reinforced nor should it be disregarded. Instead, bullying and cyber-bullying should be punished,
sanctioned, and discouraged. Research shows that individuals, whether child or adult, who are always
exposed to bullying have higher chances of having stress related illness which can sometimes trigger
suicide. Those who have been victims of bullying manifest long term emotional, as well as, behavioural
problems. Bullying can likewise bring about loneliness, depression, anxiety, lead to low self-esteem and
increased susceptibility to illness. Research also shows that bullying can cause maladjustment in young
children, and victims of bullying including bullies themselves demonstrate even greater social difficulties.

Of the many effects of bullying, the worst of them is suicide. According to many reports, evidence
showed that bullying heightens the tendency of the victims to commit suicide. However, bullying per se
does not cause suicide. It is depression that encourages suicide. It has been reported that a number of
children commit suicide every year due to bullying, especially when there is lack of support from family
and friends. The situation could even be worse if the victim who suffered the pains of bullying is left alone
in misery with no one who would provide comfort and love. The fact of the existence of suicide cases for
victims of bullying in itself should give us enough reason to fight against bullying. These suicide cases
brought about by bullying are inhumane and morally unacceptable. Bullying destroys dreams, hopes,
aspirations, and more importantly, it destroys life.

Many people take bullying lightly and ignore the enormity of its impact on the psychological well-
being of the individual. Bullying triggers self-doubt. Children who are bullied can experience negative
physical, school, and mental health issues. Moreover, bullying can likewise instigate depression, anxiety,
increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in
activities they used to enjoy. Such issues may even continue on to adulthood. Additionally, reports would
show that kids who were bullied suffer decreased academic achievement and lose interest in school
participation. These kids most likely would miss, skip, or drop out of school.

In sum, the researchers strongly condemn the different acts of bullying in whatever form, whether
intentional or unintentional. Bullying is not a joke. It should not be treated as a habit. It should not be
accepted in the society as something that is just normal. Bullying largely affects certain individuals, not
only the victim himself. For one, when a child commits suicide, the families of the said child gets
emotionally affected. The effects and consequences of bullying produces a ripple effect. It affects one,
then affects another. The one who suffers is not only the victim himself but the families of the victim as
well. The issue on bullying should be given serious and utmost attention. Given the legitimacy and
magnanimity of its effects, the issue on bullying must be addressed properly. The researchers are firm in
the stand to fight against bullying. The Philippine society is supposed to be a culture of values. Filipinos
should embody those values and live up to the traits of a true human being. As responsible citizens, we
are judged according to what we build and not based on what we destroy. NO TO BULLYING!
