About the Company:

Dabur India Ltd. is one of the India's largest Ayurvedic medicine and
natural consumer products manufacturer. Dabur demerged its Pharma
business in 2003 and hived it off into a separate company, Dabur
Pharma Ltd. German company Fresenius SE bought a 73.27% equity
stake in Dabur Pharma in June 2008 at Rs 76.50 a share. Dabur's
Healthcare Division has over 260 products for treating a range of
ailments and body conditions, from common cold to chronic paralysis.
Dabur International, a fully owned subsidiary of Dabur India formerly
held shares in the UAE based Weikfield International, which it sold in
June 2012.

In the mid-1880s, Dr. S.K. Burman, an Ayurvedic practitioner


in Kolkata, concocted medicines for diseases like cholera and malaria.
He went on to set up Dabur India Ltd in 1884 to mass-produce his
Ayurvedic formulations. His son, C.L. Burman, set up Dabur's first
R&D unit. The current chairman, Dr. Anand Burman, and vice-
chairman Amit Burman, are part of the fifth generation of the Burman
family. The Burmans were among the first business families in India to
separate ownership from management when they handed over the
management of the company to professionals in 1998.

Job Profile/ Role:


Sales Promoter in Retail Store for Real Juice Greeting Packs by
Dabur, Specially for the Diwali Festival.

Objectives of Project:
Core learning objectives in reference to the different consumer
behavior & preference towards my concerned product as well as the
substitute products & their comparison

Tasks Performed:
1. Worked as a Sales promoter in Dainik Bazaar, Sector-9,
Gurgaon.
2. Sold Different Product Sub-Heads under the Greetings Pack in
different Price range, Flavours & Quantities.
3. Influenced Customers to prefer my products rather than
substitute products like Tropicana & Natural B and even Paper
boat.
4. Sold 250+ Packs in different Range.

Challenges and Issues faced:


1. Doing this job was a whole new experience, which was difficult
to adjust in that to in a short time span of 1 week.
2. Promoters in the store were treated as their own employees in
terms of work, I was made to sell almost every product lined up
on the floor, Including Haldiram, Gulab, Bikano, Chocolates,
Drinks & even Fruits.
3. Diverting Customers for purchasing Real active Greeting Pack
was very difficult as it is a sugar free juice pack which people
were not willing to see even.
4. Putting my products in front store display among so many
products was difficult for all 7 Days.
5. Filling up the space with my stock after every day sales was a
tough job to carry out the boxes from store warehouse.

Learnings and Outcomes:
1. Each Customer rather an Individual or in a group (family/friends)
differ on their thoughts & preferences.
2. Higher discounts attract more customers as well as it influenced
people to change their purchase decision.
3. Discounts & offers played a vital role in consumers purchase
decision making.
4. Difference between fruit juice and drinks depends on their Pulp
concentrate which is 20% or more then fruit concentrate in the
mixture is only referred as Juice, like – Real & Tropicana, all
other are Fruit drinks, like – Frooti & Appy Fizz.
5. Real Juice are the top most selling product by Dabur in the juice
segment.
6. When it comes to gift packs that to in a festival like Diwali,
people paying for packs do not want their product to be sugar free
as it (Meetha) is termed as something special for them to offer to
other people on festivals.

Suggestions / Recommendations:
1. Apart from our tasks in general sense, job of a promoter is a very
tough job, standing & communicating with people, getting
interest or getting high rejections for 8 to 10 hours a day for a very
less amount of pay needs lot of self-motivation & patience and
we all must respect them & their efforts.

2. Next similar projects to this must appreciate a better briefing &


concern by the corporate mentors, as students were not at all
treated as they should have.
