Did you go to your hometown? For instance, I didn’t go to my
hometown, but I went to İstanbul because I love İstanbul. There

Activity Center, etc. Also, there is a wax museum about celebrities. It’s
(5 minutes) Madame Tussauds Museum. Did you hear it before? There are
some sculptures of celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Marilyn
Monroe, Müslüm Gürses, etc. What about you?
S: I went to my hometown. / I was at home.
T: You said you went to your hometown. What did you see in
your hometown? Are there any museums/shopping centers, etc?
S:There is a museum. There are some shopping centers...

2
➢ T opens a picture of İstanbul and to make sts recall their
knowledge about the unit;
T asks: “Where is this place? What do you think? What do you
see in this picture? Are there any buildings? What about ships?”
etc.
While sts tell what they see in this picture, T notes some of the
sentences on the board. For instance “There are some
buildings/apartments. / There is a bridge etc.” and underlines
Introduction there isand there are.
(10 minutes) ➢ Then, T asks: Yesterday, we learned the difference between
there is and there are. Do you remember it?
S: We use there are for countable nouns, there is for
uncountable nouns.
T:Is there any plane/train/statue in this picture?
S:There is not any plane/train/statue in this picture.
T:Is there any volunteer to write his/her sentence on the board?
Then, they discuss the difference between some and any as a
whole class. T makes sts recall the last lesson.
T: When we use “some”, it means that we don’t know exactly
how many buildings/apartments are there in this picture, and we
use some and any with uncountable nouns and plural nouns.
Also, we can see “some” in positive sentences, and “any” in
negative sentences and questions.

➢ In China, there is a park called Window of the World. T opens a

listening text about this park.
Then, T says: Now, open your student’s book. You can see
some questions on page 38, we will listen to an audio about
Main Activity Window of the World. It is a park in China. Please listen to the
(20 minutes) audio carefully and mark the sentences true or false. Then, we
will check your answers as a whole class.

text as a whole class.
➢ Then, T asks: “Would you like to go to Window of the World?
What would you like to see there? Think about the most
interesting places in your town. What are the most interesting
places for you? Why?” and gets the answers from sts.

Brochure

➢ T makes groups of 4 sts to create their own brochure for their

imaginary town/city or a place in their town/city.
➢ T: Now, as a group, I want you to create an imaginary town or a

stop the music. When the music stops, the student who is
holding the box takes a question from the box, reads the
question loudly and answers the question according to his/her
street by using a/an/some/any/many, etc. After you answer the
question, don’t put it back in the box. For example, when the
music stops, I am the person holding the box. I am taking a
