Budget Narrative
In order to successfully complete this unit plan, there are a few expenditures I anticipate
in accumulating. In total for this unit, I am anticipating in needing close to $1,000 (See Table 1).
We will be using a lot of paper for print outs, activities, charts, and graphic organizers, so I have
included a cost for those reams of paper. Students will be creating projects and presenting them,
so poster boards will be necessary. For a few discussion activities, we will be needing sticky
notes. We will also be writing daily, so I have included the cost of notebooks to provide a journal
for students. The most expensive and comprehensive item on the list is the cost of the start of a
To major aspect of funding needed for this unit plan is the purchase of books for a
classroom library. This is not completely necessary, because students will be able to find banned
books in the school or public library, but I think it would be a great additional asset to have. This
would allow students to continue this project, and continue thinking about banned books, during
the rest of the semester. My students would have quick access to the books if they were in the
classroom readily available, and they did not have to check them out or go visit the library.
AdoptAClassroon.org and registered our classroom. We are able to share the page with our
family and friends, and receive donations for supplies. I will also keep my out and look at
discount book stores, like Half-Price Books, Book Outlet, and Books A Million.
