Subject: Math

Topic: Counting 1-5

Goal: M will be able to identify and write numbers 1-10 with 80% accuracy as given by a weekly
informal assessment.

Preview:
The goal of this lesson is to work on counting 1-5 and focusing on writing the number five
consistently.

Review:
During the review I will work on warm up activities. First we will start with number recognition
using number flashcards. Then I will go through touchpoints of numbers 1-5. I will ask MK to
touch and count the touchpoints for each number 1-5.

Modeling:
During the modeling portion I will model to M how to write the number five. I will write the
number five on a worksheet and show her how to place the touchpoints. First I will write it and
then ask Mariam if she knows what number I wrote.

Guided Practice:
Now I will have M trace over the number five that I wrote. Next I will have her write the number
five on her own five times. After this, I will ask M if she knows where to place the touchpoints for
the number five. Then I will have M write in the touchpoints while guiding her if she gets them
incorrect.

Individual Practice:
For the individual practice I will give M a worksheet about tracing the number five and then with
space to write it on her own. Once she traces the number five on her own, I will have her write
the number again on her own to finish the rest of the worksheet.

Evaluation:
Lastly, I will give M her informal assessment that asks M to write as many numbers as she can,
count as high as she can and identify as many numbers as she can.
