LESSON PLAN
Anticipatory Set: Students will get out their notebooks and flip to their Word of the Day section.
The students should have Exposition through Rising Action written in there. They will then add
the word “Climax” to their notebooks. I will have the definition on the board as well as an
example sentence. After the students have written it down I will ask for someone to give me an
example of the climax of their book.
Identified Modeling: Before we start our shows I will remind kids how to fill in the story arc
worksheet. This is something we have been working on since Monday, so most of the students
know by know.
Checking for Understanding: As the movie is playing I will stop and ask the students if they
know which part of the story arc they just saw.
At the end of the show, I will go through their story arc with them to see if they can now try it on
their own.
Guided Practice: For guided practice I am going to ask for the students help as we fill in the
story arc about the pixar short we just watched. Students will be able to fill this one out with a
partner.
Independent Practice: Students will then have to watch another pixar short and fill in their story
arc by themselves.
Evaluation Criteria: I will be collecting their independent practice story arc and putting it in the
gradebook.
