Subject: Math

Topic: Counting/Writing 1-10

Goal: M will be able to identify and write numbers 1-10 with 80% accuracy as given by a weekly
informal assessment.

Preview:
The goal of this lesson is to work on counting 1-10 and focusing on writing the number six and
seven consistently.

Review:
During the review I will work on warm up activities. First we will start with number recognition
using number flashcards. Then I will go through touchpoints of numbers 1-6. I will ask MK to
touch and count the touchpoints for each number 1-6.

Modeling:
During the modeling portion I will model to M how to write the number six. I will write the number
six on a whiteboard and show her how to place the touchpoints. First I will write it and then ask
M if she knows what number I wrote. Next, I will work on the number seven. I will again write the
number seven on my own with M watching me. Then I will show her how to write in her
touchpoints.

Guided Practice:
Now I will have M trace over the number six that I wrote. Next I will have her write the number
six on her own three times. After this, I will ask M if she knows where to place the touchpoints
for the number six. Then I will have M write in the touchpoints while guiding her if she gets them
incorrect. I will then repeat these steps with M with the number seven.

Individual Practice:
For the individual practice I will give M a worksheet about writing the number six and seven. The
worksheet will ask her to trace the numbers and then they leave space for her to write it on her
own. After she finishes with the worksheets I will ask her to write the numbers six and seven on
a whiteboard with their touchpoints.

Evaluation:
Lastly, I will give M her informal assessment that asks M to write as many numbers as she can,
count as high as she can and identify as many numbers as she can.
