Subject: Math

Topic: Counting/Writing 1-10

Goal: M will be able to identify and write numbers 1-10 with 80% accuracy as given by a weekly
informal assessment.

Materials:
● Whiteboard
● Informal assessment
● Number flash cards

Preview:
The goal of this lesson is to work on counting 1-10 and focusing on writing the number ten
consistently.

Review:
During the review I will work on warm up activities. First we will start with number recognition
using number flashcards. I will ask M “what is this number?”. Then once she answers correctly, I
will say “Okay, now show me ___ fingers”. Last I will ask M to tap a certain part of her body the
number of times that is stated on the flash cards. Next, we will go through our touch points for
number 1-9. I will tell M to count her touch points first and then trace the number.

Modeling:
During the modeling portion I will model to M how to write the number ten on the whiteboard.
First, I will write the number ten on a whiteboard and ask M if she knows what number I wrote.
Then, I will write it three more times.

Guided Practice:
Now I will have M write the number ten with me. We will both write the number ten and ask the
other person if our number looks right.

Individual Practice:
For the individual practice I will give M a worksheet about writing the number ten. The worksheet
will include counting the number of objects on the page, which will be ten. She can then color
the ten objects. Once she is done there will be a line for her to practice writing the number ten
all by herself. She will write the number until all the line space is full.

Evaluation:
Lastly, I will give M her informal assessment that asks M to write as many numbers as she can,
count as high as she can and identify as many numbers as she can.
