During this practicum I have learned a lot about myself as an educator. One thing that I

have done well during this semester is getting to know and care for my students well. I have

been able to make connections with the students I work with and have fun with them. I think this

is the most important thing to happen while doing a practicum. Another thing that I have been

doing well this semester is gaining experience from the other special education teachers in the

building. I have been able to have my schedule fit so that I can observe and work with three

special education teachers. Through this I have been able to see different teaching styles,

strategies, and classes. I think this has been very beneficial for me and has allowed me many

insights about the special education field.

On the other hand, I think there are things that I don’t do as well and have been learning

to work on throughout the semester. One thing is being assertive. At the beginning of the

semester I was observing more about how the teachers at my school ran things. However, once

I started taking over more areas in the class this was still something that needed work.

Although, I believe that I have grown a lot in this area and have become much better at it. I think

it took me time to see what was acceptable and what was not.

Overall, I still have many areas to work on, but I am growing as an educator and that is

what I am proud of.
