St. Patrick’s story.

St Patrick’s day is an Irish traditional festival that is celebrated all over the world on March 17th, especially in
the USA.

It originated in Ireland and has a traditional story.

St Patrick was a young boy called Padraig who lived in Britain with his family during the Roman period. When
he was 16 years old, he was kidnapped and was taken to Ireland and forced to work as a shepherd.

Padraig was Christian, and the people who kidnapped him didn’t know about Christianism. So Padraig prayed
every day and started to teach them about God and the Holy Trinity using a shamrock as a symbol.

When he was twenty years old, he had a dream that came from God and decided to escape. He went back
to Britain and reunited with his family. He decided to study and became a priest.

Many years later, he went back to Ireland to teach the Irish people about Christianity. There are many stories
about St Patrick’s miracles in Ireland. One of them says that he drove all the snakes away from Ireland.
According to Christianism, snakes are a symbol of the devil.

Nowadays, St. Patrick’s day is celebrated all over the world with parades, where people wear green clothes
and masks and drink beer.

There any many symbols that represent this festivity, like the Leprechauns, who are small elves. The legend
says that if you find one, he will take you to the end of the rainbow to find your pot of gold.
