Technical

7.13 Accommodations Maintenance Manager

Reports to: Staff Chief Engineer/Hotel Director

Direct Reports: Accommodations Maintenance Supervisor, Joiners, Plumbers,


Fitters, Varnishers, Upholsterers
(Riding Crew which may join periodically to work under the direction of the
Accommodations Maintenance Manager)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accommodation Maintenance Manager is responsible for the planning and


execution of maintenance/repairs of the Hotel beverage Department’s equipment
and machinery. These responsibilities should be carried out in coordination with
the shipboard maintenance team as per the recommendation/suggestions of the
Shipboard and shoreside Accommodations Maintenance team.

The Accommodation Maintenance Manager cooperates with the Hotel Director and
the Department Heads in order to achieve optimal results that sustain the brand’s
position as the highest-rated premium cruise line. This position works under the
supervision of Chief Engineer, Hotel Director, and Staff Chief Engineer.

Employee may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their
supervisor, management or the Chief Engineer. All duties and responsibilities are to be
performed in accordance with the Company’s Safety, Quality and Environmental
standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø Marine Engineering degree or three to five years experience in a hotel


maintenance management position in a large hospitality hotel/resort environment
or a minimum of five years cruise ship technical operations experience;

Ø Extensive knowledge of maintenance processes and environmental standards


regarding public health;

Ø Ability to read and interpret drawings, documentation, instructions or


specifications including modifications and enhancements;

Ø Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal


service including needs assessment, problem resolution and achievement of quality
service standards;

Ø Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate


within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, or related programs.

Operations:

Ø Participates as a member of the Shipboard Maintenance Team to address all


shipboard repair and maintenance matters;

Ø Ensures all operating standards and procedures are executed consistently

Ø Upholds USPH, Safety, Environmental and other company policies and standards

Ø Establishes procedures and tests for the operation, maintenance (including


preventive maintenance), repair of machineries/equipment and furnishings.
Evaluates and submits recommendations for the repairs or modifications based on
such factors as environment, service, costs and system capabilities.

Ø Inspects installation progress, products and systems to ensure compliance with


established specifications safety standards and applicable codes and regulations.

Ø Assists in the implementation and maintenance of Company brand standards for


the Hotel and Food and Beverage areas. Ensures audit recommendations are
implemented

Ø Ensures maintenance schedules are entered in AMOS computerized system.


Reviews and plans for the requirement of spares and places orders in accordance
with established procedures through the Technical Support Officer. Guarantees all
items are correctly stored and utilized to minimize waste.

Ø Conducts inspections of all related areas on a regular basis and reports


discrepancies to the Chief Engineer/Hotel Director
Ø Effectively investigates and resolved maintenance-related quality and service
complaints in a timely manner and provides prompt and effective solutions in
collaboration with Hotel Management

Ø Supports with the development of long term pans, conceptual designs and capital
outlay requirements and documentation for Hotel areas in coordination with the
Chief Engineer/Hotel Director

Financial:

Demonstrates aptitude for the financial aspects of hotel maintenance operations


including identification of expense reduction through cost control and preventative
maintenance.

PHYSICAL & LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand;
walk; use hands to otuch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear;
and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life


saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well s full visual,
verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event
of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50
pounds.

All shipboard employees must be able to communicate in the English language in


order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give
and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present
information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
