Provide Access to Clean Water

1.0 Introduction

There are many engineers and they are commonly known as ‘engineering team’. There are
many types of engineering fields such as aerospace engineering, agricultural and biological
engineering, biochemical engineering and many more (stemmajor.com). Each of them played and
important role in the many industries such as agriculture, chemical, bioengineering and many
more. An engineer is someone with scientific knowledge and societal needs. Their role is to make
determined efforts to discover all the relevant facts and all the possible outcomes of the choices
available that may impact society.
2.0 Discussion

One of the challenges for engineers is to provide access to clean water. In this modern world,
lack of clean water has become one of the main problems. For certain country such as Africa,
people suffer from perpetual shortage although water is available in abundance. It is just the
matter of where the water is located. Another usage of water is for personal use and daily routine.
For industry, water is used mostly for agriculture and ecological process. So, we can conclude that
water is very vital in our life we should not take it for granted by wasting it on purpose.

Desalination is a process that extracting salt from the sea. Country such as Israel uses this
process technology to offer its domestic water needs. But due to this process technology, its
required a huge amount of money to build. Also, its required a lot of man power to operate it. So,
this process technology only be used for certain country and with water shortage problem only.

To provide clean water to the society, technologies are required to solve this issue. For
example, there is a way to recover recycling of wastewater so that water can be used for
nonpersonal uses. Recycled water could even resupply aquifers, but very effective purification
method is necessary to reservation the safety of recycled water. Next, developing strategies for
reducing water use is required to solve the water problem. For instance, for agriculture industry,
a large amount of water is needed for irrigation. For country like Jordan, they have reduced water
use considerably with drip technology.

Next, a way for refining water is small decentralized distillation unit in places such as
infrastructure distribution problems are severe. The only problem is economical distribution to
country and low-income. Inexpensive distillation units are being produced by current projects to
remove contaminants from any water source. This way will help to crack the real problem of
inequitable diction of water resources.
3.0 Conclusions

As a conclusion, people need to know how to save water and appreciate it more. Learn the
importance of water in our daily life and stop misusing it because lack of water is a big issue in
many countries. So, we need to understand the value of water drops and save it for the future.
