Initial Post – up to a maximum of 6 points possible


Adherence to Assignment Requirements (Responsibility, Persistence, and Engagement) (2 pts.)

 Responds to all assignment requirements thoroughly and proficiently


 Supports claims or observations made with textual evidence (such as quotes,
paraphrases, or description of the text)

Analysis and Critical Reflection (Metacognition and Openness) (2 pts.)

 Makes connections to previous or current course content


 Shares a perspective related to other academic, personal, civic, or professional
situations

Building the Conversation (Curiosity and Creativity) (2 pts.)


 Provides original information/ideas relevant and helpful to other members of our
composing community’s understanding of the topic

Response Post – up to a maximum of 4 points possible


Interaction with Peers (Engagement and Curiosity) (2 pts.)
 Responds thoroughly and thoughtfully to a classmate’s initial post, moving beyond just
agreeing or disagreeing, to meaningfully deepen the understanding of the assignment
 Asks at least one meaningful question (if applicable) of the initial poster

Enhancing the Conversation (Metacognition, Flexibility, and Creativity) (2 pts.)


 Makes a significant connection between the initial post and relevant course content or
themes (such as the Habits of Mind, WPA Outcomes, or skills transfer)
 Contributes original content relevant and helpful to other members of our composing
community’s understanding of course themes or content
