Case Development: Individual Project

This study will look at “Leading Digital” initiatives in Indian industries. Case can focus on any one of these areas.

6. Cyber Security
7. Deep Learning
8. Augmented Reality (AR)/ Virtual Reality (VR)

Since the field of “Digital Transformation” covers many different technology and tools, such case development and
presentation, can provide a wide array of latest information for everyone in the batch. Each person must select a firm
that they will analyze and develop a case. It will be good if you work for the same firm. No two student will analyze the
same firm; find a way to resolve this.
The objective of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to identify and analyze the IT utilization of a company.
This project is to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and abilities to "synthesize" the concepts from this course and all
the other courses you have taken in the programme.
Here are some guidelines
A good case tells a story and may even be written like a “mystery,” with clues deliberately planted for classmates to
uncover and analyze. The story should be written in the past tense and anchored in specific dates. It should be written
from the point of view of an actor within the organization, but NEVER in the first-person.
Executive summary

Prepare an overall view of the case and the issues discussed. This section should be no more than 150 words and should
specifically talk about the essence of the case and what the primary coverage of the case is. Avoid providing too much
introduction to the industry of the case, company that the case is based on or review of literature in this section. Select a
theme, which will run throughout the case. Few themes are listed below. You are free to choose any other theme as well

1. Effect of Digital Technology on interorganizational relationships: As a new communication medium can affect the
relationship between participating organizations. How does the Digital technology capability effect channel
structure (power, channel formalization, channel complexity etc.) and interorganizational relationship quality
(trust, satisfaction, commitment).
2. Value generated by “Digital Transformation” solutions: Analyse and discuss various operational and strategic
benefits and what lead to these benefits.
3. Digital Technology - value for small and medium enterprise (SME): How SMEs can generate value from technology
and how they can ensure that large organizations do not take away these benefits by putting pressure on their
profit margin and price reduction.
4. Digital Technology adoption and implementation: You can cover both technical and social aspects. Issues such as
end user training, financial / technical support to adopters etc. can be covered.

Organization and industry background

Provide background on the history of the organization, type of business, products/services provided, management
structure, financial status (including annual sales), strategic planning, organizational culture, economic climate and any
other information that you feel are necessary to provide the reader with a comprehensive understanding of the
background of the company. We strongly suggest that you provide as much financial and organizational data in the form
of tables, figures, and/or graphs that would allow the reader an enhanced understanding of the organization discussed
in the case. Additional financial and organizational data can be included in the Appendix at the end of the case. A
section on industry analysis will also add value to the case.

Setting the stage

Describe the information and communication technology (ICT) utilization, advancements, management practices and
philosophies, etc. of the organization prior to initiation of the “ Digital Transformation” project/experience described in
the case as well as the players involved, their role and status within the company. Clearly define the problems faced by
the organization.

Case description

Provide a detailed overview of the project/experience described in the case in terms of technology concerns, technology
components, management, technology resources and constraints, and other organizational concerns, as well as any
other information that would provide a comprehensive description of the ICT project/experience to the reader.
Furthermore, describe any related issues (e.g., cultural, philosophies, opinions, etc.) practiced within the organization
that have impacted the ICT project/experience planning, implementation and overall management.

Outcome and current challenges/problems facing the organization

In detail, describe some of the challenges and problems that the organization is/was facing / faced at the completion of
the “Digital Transformation” project/experience. Furthermore, it would be helpful to the reader if you describe the
current (today's) status of the challenges and problems related to the project/experience. This section should be
written in a way that readers could be engaged in discussion of the possible solutions for solving the problems facing the
organization.

It must be in APA (please Google to see what it is) Style. Your references should be well documented and organized

Appendix

Additional tables, figures, graphs, and charts related to financial and organizational data and any other information that
you might find helpful to the reader.
