Break-out Title/Topic: Wage Gap Resources Time
Bridge-in:
Today’s topic is the wage gap. Although, we have
made huge strides in the right direction in regards
to women’s rights and equity for women, there is
still room for improvement. According to 2014
Census data, women earn 79% of what men earn
and that number is even lower for women of 1

Does anyone have any prior knowledge of why
the wage gap is such a big deal?

Learning Objective:
To get students thinking about and
understanding the wage gap. Students will have a
better grasp of why the wage gap exists and how
it affects women and be able to reflect on their
own opinions of sexism. Moreover, thinking of 1
ways that this can be overcome. N/A minute
Participatory Activity:
I will have students individually read an article
from the New York Times called “How to Bridge
that Stubborn Wage Gap” on their cellphone or
laptop. After this article I will lead a group Laptop/Cellphone
discussion with the questions in the post- Article at New York Times website
