Overview

The SIB18 Support for WCDMA Neighbor Cells allows lower battery
consumption during cell reselection.

Summary

This feature introduces additional information in SIB18 (System Information

Block Type 18) that consists of PLMN-ids of intra- and inter-frequency
neighboring cells in WCDMA. Based on this information, the User Equipment
(UE) in idle mode can quicker determine which neighbor cells are the best
candidates for cell reselection. This results in lower battery consumption in
network sharing scenarios.

6 Activate SIB18 Support for WCDMA

Neighbor Cells

The SIB18 Support for WCDMA Neighbor Cells feature requires the CXC 403
0201 license key installation and appropriate MO instance to be activated.

Prerequisites

Before the feature activation, confirm that the following preconditions are met:

• Scheduling Block is activated (the Sid::schedulingBlockEnabled

parameter is set to TRUE).

• The Sid::sib18.sib18RepPeriod and Sid::sib18.sib18StartPos parameters

are set to their respective recommended values, refer to Idle Mode and
Common Channel Behavior.

• Shared RAN (MOCN) multiple PLMN support feature and SIB11 based on
IEF ANR part of the ANR Inter-Frequency features are not activated.

Steps

1. Install the license key CXC 403 0201 for the feature.

2. Set the attribute RncFeature::featureState to ACTIVATED for the

Sib18NeighborCell MO instance.

Neighbor Cells

The RncFeature::featureState parameter allows to deactivate the SIB18

Support for WCDMA Neighbor Cells feature.

Prerequisites

This feature has no prerequisites for deactivating.

Steps

1. Set the attribute RncFeature::featureState to DEACTIVATED for

the rlibIdSib18NeighborCell MO instance.
