IoT Based Petroleum Products Quality Control Platform

1
Problem
Fuel fraud equates to about 10% of total,
global fuel sales1.
The problem costs over 200 billion USD
annually in the world market

Current solutions have

limited or no effect

Solution
OLMIDI ultrasonic based IoT system
Monitor petroleum products during transportation in real time.
Uniquely identifies the authenticity of any fuel batch
(or any material for that matter)
Determines in seconds whether the fuel batch in quality and quantity
that was delivered to the final destination was the same that that was
originally sent
Being developed OLMIDI Quality Control Platform will be able to determine
and monitor

OLMIDI IoT System
We have created small, mobile and inexpensive sensor
systems and software, which serve as substitutes for:

• Laboratories with staff and equipment

• Large-sized and expensive process control equipment
• Video-based equipment

We enable automatic process

control in the areas where it wasn’t
economically beneficial before

Issues in retail fuel sales: What questions we can
help answer

Data on quality and quantity of transported fuel and Control of tank fleet and fuel supply line components’
1 technical condition of petrol tank trucks or by railway 2 condition at petrol stations

WHAT QUESTIONS WE CAN HELP WHAT QUESTIONS WE CAN HELP ANSWER:

ANSWER: ▪ Current state and degree of tank wear, as well as
▪ Monitoring of fuel quantity and quality fuel supply lines at petrol stations
during transportation, including octane ▪ Leaks and other types of losses caused by
number, etc equipment wear
▪ Integration of sensors into the general ▪ Necessity to react swiftly to failures in the tank
digital system of delivery control and fleet and fuel supply systems
fuel discharge
▪ Possibility of constant fuel control

Fuel quality assurance solutions

Manual inspections are the most common method to assure quality, but
digital solutions are nearly as prevalent. It would be reasonable to
assume that this gap will narrow, or even close, in the next few years.

Examples of past and current projects
Aviation industry and operation of aircraft

▪ Feeding power to autonomous sensors of an airplane thanks to local power

generation with the use of piezofilm elements located on the wings.

▪ The power effect facilitated placement of exterior surveillance cameras at

the end of wings without installing cables, secured uninterrupted operation
of cameras in the infra-red band and image transfer with a sampling signal
frequency once in 30 seconds. In other words, the devices installed on the
airplane were powered by the energy produced by the flapping of the
plane’s wings.

▪ The system for real time monitoring of autoclave manufacturing of

composite materials for fuselage parts of civil aircraft.

▪ The system for real time monitoring of degree of wear of metalworking tools
for machining titanium and aluminum alloys used in aviation.
