Project 5 (video)

COM 462/562 Music Technology II - Fall 2019

Project Description:

Select one of the student animation projects from this semester and compose an original sound
score for it. Your composition should work well with the selected video and demonstrate the
tools you have learned across the semester. Your project should utilize at least 5 sound sources
(audio and/or software instrument), make adequate use of volume, panning, and processing
automation where necessary. Your project should also be well organized, uses colors to identify
content, and include an exported video file containing your composed sound as well as a
standalone audio file of your piece. ​Projects should also be free of clipping.

Project Notes:

With your project you will submit a set of project notes. Please include a description of the audio
material (including where it comes from) and your reasons for choosing these audio files. Also
include a brief description of the concept for the project, how you approached working with the
video, and what effects processing techniques you implemented. Your project notes will be
between 1 and 2 pages, double spaced, and with Times New Roman or Arial fonts in size 12.
Please save your program notes as a .pdf file and include them in your individual project folder.

Submission:

Projects must be submitted to the class folder on the Studio D computer prior to the start of
class. Be sure that the Logic project file opens properly on the Studio D computer. Projects will
be presented from the Logic project files during class presentations. Save the project in a single
folder with the naming conventions specified in the example below. The folder must include the
Logic project file, a bounced copy of the final project both as a video and as a stereo audio file,
the audio files implemented in the project, and the program notes. Be sure to save the bounced
audio file as a .wav file with the 24-bit, 44.1 kHz settings selected in addition to your exported
video file.
