Reading Response #11

The article discusses how to respond to other people’s papers properly and how to give good

reviews. The article displays different peer review responses and outlines what is wrong or good

with each response. The article’s main goal is to teach people how to write comments and how to

do a peer review. The article provides an entire outline of what to include in your comments,

such as what does one need to address, where to put comments, how much to comment, and just

other major criterias that one should include in their comments. The author also provides

questions for the reader to think about while reviewing and providing comments for someone.

The article is extremely helpful for people that are reviewing other papers because it is hard to

figure out where to start the comments from. In my opinion, this article is really good resource

and it helps people figure out where to start out. Some of the analogies they used to compare the

writing were really confusing especially because they did not correlate to anything and the article

also did not explain them. I like the article because the way it is written is very easy to read with

straight to the point statements. The entire article provides an outline as I mentioned earlier

which is extremely helpful because a lot of people do not know how to write comments. The

article also provides a brief introduction of the author which is informative about the author. The

article provides good examples such as edited papers with comments in the margins, and then the
author criticized the comments if they are good or bad. I understood most of the article except

some of the analogies were kind of weird and unrelated.
