Learn how to find the area of right triangles, other triangles, polygons, and special
Pre-Assessment:
Pre-Assessment on computer program I-Ready on the first day. Students will complete a
mini pre-assessment quiz that will allow me to see how much they know about our new
unit.
Board-splash: each student come up to the board and writes what they learned or
the area. I will call on 3 students to come up to the smartboard to answer a question, those
Boardsplit: to be completed at the beginning of class. I will split the board into three
sections (triangle, irregular figure, a quadrilateral), students will explain how to find the
area.
Formative Assessment:
In-class lab, class worksheets, homework, and class conversation. Quiz taken on the
Exit slip: every day at the end of class students will be given a sticky note they will either
write clear, kind of clear, or confused. This allows me to see which students did not grasp
Summative Assessment:
Chapter test at the end of the unit. The test will encompass all of my learning goals.
Adaptations:
I have no students with IEP’s in this class. We have 3 group rotation, my direct
instruction students have more one on one time with me because it is a smaller group of
students. Not all students learn the same. I will have to differentiate my instruction to
meet the needs of each student. I will utilize manipulatives, games, and differentiate my
instruction to reach the visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic learners. When grouping mix
high achieving with low achieving students. Differentiate instruction to reach each
student’s learning needs. Some students may be able to grasp the concept quicker than
others, therefore I must have a steady pace and move too quickly or too slowly.
