TEACHING RESOURCES
As an educator, I believe every student can be successful when presented the
opportunity. One of the joys of teaching science is the amount of hands on
learning that can take place. When students make real world connections
between science and the world around them it creates a unique learning
environment. The science classroom is a place where students are safe to
express their thoughts and ideas. Below you will find links to several websites
that will help you open doors to creative thinking, create collaboration
opportunities, and present students with unique opportunities to explore and
learn in new ways.

classroom:
The following sites provide access to numerous lesson plan ideas that can be
incorporated into the classroom:
● WebQuest
○ This site supplies users with a technology supported lesson. A link to the
Quest Garden which is filled with sample lessons based around
technology. Students begin with an introduction and an assigned task
then move through the lesson at their own pace and conclude with an
evaluation.
● Khan Academy
○ Kahn Academy allows students the opportunity to practice exercises,
watch instructional videos, and create a personalized learning dashboard
that empowers learners to study inside and outside the classroom.
○ Teachers can search the site for a specific standard, topic, or grade level
and choose an assignment that is traditional or technology based.
● Scholastic
○ Scholastic is a tried and true company that provides lesson plans. This
provides an opportunity to teach cross curriculum and add a
comprehension component to your lesson.
● TED Education
○ Appeal to different learning styles
○ Keeps students interests by shifting from one activity to the next (watch,
think, dig deeper, discuss)
The following sites provide access to teaching resources that will impact
students educational work by adding technology elements to everyday classroom
activities.
ONLINE TOOLS
These sites can provide teachers digital resources to help students manage and develop
classroom files.
● Google Documents
○ Easily shared digitally created assignments with students and share them
through Google Classroom
● Draw.io
○ Draw.io provides an easy way for teachers to differentiate assignments for
their students. Advanced students will shine as they create their own
designs while those who are more academically challenged can use the
same application to begin their work from a template.
● Padlet
○ Padlet is an organized discussion board where students collaborate and
share with others within their group.
● Wizer.me
○ When you need to create your own worksheet, Wizer.me makes it allows
you to create a digital sheet that can be shared electronically or printed on
paper.
These sites provide opportunities for students to collaborate when they work together
on large group projects.
● Google Documents
○ Google Docs is a cloud based word processing program that saves
students work automatically and allows them to collaborate simultaneously
whether they are sitting side by side in the classroom or miles apart.
● Evernote
○ Evernote provides students the digital freedom of accessing their notes
from anywhere. Students can use the included templates to create
organized, easy to follow notes
● Remember the Milk
○ This application provides students an easy way to be reminded of
upcoming events, assignments, and dates for the classroom
● Trello
○ Trello’s format creates an intriguing platform for students to work together
simultaneously and post information on a series of boards posting
information related to research topics in an organized manner.
The following websites are useful tools for teachers in developing and managing
students assessments. The ability to administer student evaluations digitally decreases
the time it takes to return grades to students and get daily updates to parents.
● ClassDojo
○ Classroom Dojo is a fun, interactive application where students create
their own avatar and track classroom behavior. Class Dojo provides
teachers a direct line of communication with parents.
● Google Classroom
○ Google Classroom provides teachers a “one-stop” platform to assign
classwork, record grades, and control when assignments appear for
students to complete.
