Handling
Service life of the connector can be adversely affected by mishandling. Prior to
use, check the connector and cable to make sure there is no damage. All BIW
connectors are shipped with protective shipping caps. These shipping caps
should be kept in place until the connector is ready for installation, and during
storage.

Installation
A. Remove the protective shipping cap. Examine the mating faces of the
feedthru and plug to insure that they are free of any dirt, moisture or
foreign matter. If not, clean the faces and contacts with electrical cleaning
solvent and allow to dry thoroughly.

B. The feedthru penetrator should be installed so that the red dot on the
feedthru shell faces directly away from the center of the tubing hanger. This
is required to allow the angled surface power connector to be directed away
from the wellhead.

C. To prevent rotation, the spanner wrench should be used to hold the

connector body. (If the connector rotates, it may twist and bend the contact
pins.)

D. Alternately push and hand tighten the coupling nut until the connector is
firmly made up to a hand tight condition. A strap wrench only may be used
to assist tightening.

The coupling nut should be firmly made up and the red dot covered to
show a fully mated condition.
