An abstact of a proposal with the theme: English for Islamic Studies

English Learning System in Islamic Boarding School

Abstract

This research aims to depict the real description about English learning system in Pancasila
Islamic Boarding School. This study employs qualitative research design. The intention of
this research is to find out: (1) the system used in English learning at SMA Pancasila Islamic
Boarding School, (2) the output of the teaching of English learning system in SMA Pancasila
Islamic Boarding School, and (3)the supporting factors and obstacles in achieving the
effectiveness of English learning system at SMA Pancasila Islamic Boarding School. The
data presentation is done by using descriptive method. It is a research method applied in
describing and interpreting the object based on the real situation that exists. The techniques
applied in this data collection are observation, questionnaire, and interview. The average
score of English test taken by students is 82. From that result, it can be concluded that with
this system, the score of achievement index, especially English subject, the students are able
to comprehend the material so that they get score in average of students’s score exceed the
standar from the minimun accepted scores. The supporting factor in learning English is the
additional English subject under curriculum used at the school, while the obstacle is the
congest schedule. It is highly recommendable that the system should be applied in any other
Islamic Boarding Schools in Bengkulu.
