Community Helper Unit Assessment

At the end of the unit, students will be assessed on their knowledge of being able to identify the
three community helpers that we talked in depth about (firefighter, police officer, and nurse).

The summative assessment will be as followed:

 The student will be asked to choose a community helper hat to color. The students will
be able to choose from the three community helpers that were discussed during the
week (firefighter, police officer, and nurse).
 While the students are working, the teacher will go around and ask the students what
community helper they chose, why, and how that community helper benefits our
community. The teacher will document this as she is walking around.

 After all students have colored, the students will put the hat on their head. The students
will then be asked to go back to the carpet and sit in their semi square. The students
will then play Simon Says.

 The teacher will say phrases such as, “If you put out fires, jump on one foot.

 This will assess whether students know the benefits of specific community helpers and if they
can identify their specific worker during Simon Says.
 It is the teacher’s job to notate and assess which students do not meet the objective so those
students can be worked with in order to eventually meet the objective.
