Examine the IBM Cognos solution
• Use IBM Cognos Controller to enter, consolidate, and analyze your
financial data, regardless of the complexity of your organization.
• Use IBM Cognos BI tools (such as Report Studio) to create
sophisticated reports and queries based on Controller data.
• You can populate an IBM Cognos TM1 application and use it as a
source for BI reports.

Log on to a Controller application
• To work with the functionalities of the Controller application, you must
log on to a database.
• When you log on, you must specify the actuality and time period that
you want to work with, or accept the default values from your previous
log on.

Set personal defaults
• At any time when you are working with IBM Cognos Controller, you
can modify your personal default settings.
• For example, you can specify:
 the actuality and time period that you want to use
 whether to use the local language or the group language
 the information that you want to appear in reports by default
 the visual theme you want to use

Specify a Controller workflow
• If you are an infrequent or novice user of Controller, you may want to
display a workflow as a background.
• You can use the workflow to guide you through the tasks involved in
administering your Controller application.
