Set up companies: overview
• You set up the company structure to represent the various
companies in your organization.
• You also define ownership relations to show inter-relationships
between the companies.
• These relationships can be represented in a tree structure.

Define consolidation types for companies
• You can group your companies into multiple structures by specifying
consolidation types.
• Your organization may require multiple consolidation types for data
entry and reporting purposes.

Define currencies
• If you want to enter and report company data in multiple currencies,
you must first enable the appropriate currency codes in the
Controller configuration.

Define countries and regions
• Only country and region codes that you have enabled are available
when you define companies in the company structure set up.
• By default, Controller supplies approximately 250 standard country and
region codes. You can add codes to the existing list as necessary.

• A company structure shows how a group of companies relate to each
other.

The same subsidiary companies can be included in both the legal

structure and the management structure.

Create and link companies
• When you define each company, you must specify:
 the default reporting currency or local currency
 whether it is the parent company or a subsidiary
 the consolidation type and the consolidation structure
• You can include the country, but this is an optional field.

Verify the company structures
• Once you have created a company structure, you can run a verification
report to ensure that the companies have been set up correctly and do
not contain invalid combinations.
• The verification report includes error messages that give details about
any problems in the company structure.

Report on company structures
• Once you have created and verified one or more company structures,
you can run reports to examine the details of these structures.
• If you run a tree report of your company structure, you can include
additional details about each company.
