    How To Prevent Evil Twin Attacks

    VPN is the simplest option to fight off evil twin hotspots. All you have to do is
    connect to VPN every time you join a public Wi-Fi network, so you can browse the
    Internet securely.

    Make sure that you are logging into a legitimate hotspot network and use hot
    spots for Web surfing only. Avoid making online purchases or any other financial
    transactions that require account numbers and passwords.

    It is always better to restrict browsing only to websites that do not require any
    sensitive data like login credentials while using a public Wi-Fi.

    Use software like EvilAP_Defender to find out Wi-Fi access points with similar
    SSID.

    Another thing is to check your device’s settings. On a smartphone such as an


    iPhone, you can go into Settings / Wi-Fi and look for Ask to Join Networks. You
    should turn this setting on.

    It means that your phone won’t automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network, so
    you have to manually connect to a network, but it’s much safer.
