2. INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 SAFETY

2.1.1 Read all instructions before using the heater.

2.1.2 When not in use Switch Off the mains

2.1.3 Do not immerse the heater in liquids.

2.1.4 Drum Heater should be fixed on a suitable level surface.

2.1.5 The heater must be used in a dry environment.

2.1.6 Ensure the supply cable is not in contact with hot surfaces during operation.

2.1.7 Do not touch the surface of the heater during operation. After switching off

allow the heater to cool completely before handling.

2.1.8 Use the heater only for its intended use, as described in these instructions

2.1.9 Disconnect from the electrical supply before handling.

2.1.10 The heater must not be used if it is damaged in any way. If the heater lead is
damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid hazard, using a special flexible cord.

2.1.11 The heater should be connected to the electrical supply via external circuit
breaker

2.1.12 During operation vent the container to avoid buildup of internal pressure.

2.2 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

2.2.1 The Drum Heater is designed to be used on metallic drums and containers for
warming of the contents.

2.2.2 The drum should be placed on the base on the platen with the bottom lip over
the edge.

2.2.3 The heater is fitted with temperature sensor PT-100 connected to

Temperature controller model PIC 152 N- Selec. Separate instruction sheet
provided for parameter setting and model details.

2.2.4 PT-100 temperature sensor is positioned to sense the temperature at the

junction between the heater surface and container, not the container contents.

2.2.5 Obtaining the ideal temperature of the contents must be via experimentation
and experience of the material being heated.

2.2.6 Connect the FLP panel to 230 V AC electricity supply. (2.5 sq mm x 3 core
(L, N, Earthing)

2.2.7 Ensure proper earthing is connected to the panel and to the heater junction
box

2.2.8 Connect the cable (2.5 sq mm x 3 core, L, N, Earthing) from Control panel to
the Heater Junction Box.

2.2.9 Connect the PT-100 sensor to the control panel terminal.

2.2.10 Refer the electric circuit diagram terminal details for connection of Mains,
Heater and sensor.

2.2.11 The red indicator will light to show that power is supplied to the panel. Turn
ON the Main MCB on FLP.

2.2.12 Turn ON Heater Switch. The Heater ON Green

2.2.13 indicator will light when the heater contactor is on. When the set temperature
is reached, the indicator will go off. This process will continue as the heater
cycles.

2.2.14 Turn off the heater switch and before loading / unloading the container to the
heater.

2.2.15 The maximum heater temperature achievable is 110 deg C, beyond which the
heater will not exceed the temperature because of the self-limiting feature

2.3 CLEANING & STORAGE

2.3.1 Before cleaning the heater always disconnect from the electricity supply.

2.3.2 Wipe the heater surfaces and terminal box with a damp cloth. Do not use
solvents or scouring agents and never immerse the heater in liquid.

2.3.3 When not in use and after cooling, store the heater in a dry environment

2.3.4 For further information on use or service contact the manufacturer or supplier.
