After completing this lab, you will be better able to:

 Instruct users in the procedure for using already existing scorecard.
 Instruct users in the procedure for modifying already existing scorecard.
 Instruct users in the procedure for deploying a scorecard to a SharePoint
site.
Before working on this lab, you must:
Prerequisites  Make sure you have the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager
2005 Training Virtual PC installed on your machine.
 Start the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Training
Virtual PC.

Exercise 1
Using the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager
2005 Builder

Scenario
Users will learn how to: create a workspace, add an existing scorecard from the server, modify the scorecard, and
add it to a SharePoint site.

Tasks Detailed Steps


Complete the following a. From the Start menu click All Programs, then click on Microsoft Office. Scroll
15 tasks on: and click on Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Builder 2005.

1. Create a new
workspace

b. In the Workspace Browser, click Create a new workspace. Or from the File
menu, select New Workspace. This will create a new, untitled workspace.

c. From the file menu select Save workspace As, and save the workspace as
“myWorkspace”. Make sure you have Workspace files (*.bsw) selected as the
Save as type.

Note: When you open Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Builder, a
vertical bar separates the workspace into two panes. The pane on the left is the
Workspace Browser. After you open a workspace in Microsoft Office Business
Scorecard Manager 2005 Builder, you use the Workspace Browser to create new
scorecard elements or to quickly access existing scorecard elements so that you can
review or modify them. The pane on the right is where scorecards and their related
elements are created and reviewed
2. Create a New Data a. In the Workspace Browser, click on the Data Sources folder.

b. In the right-side pane under Create data source based on: click New Definition.
c. In the Create Data Source Wizard choose ADOMD.NET and click Next.

d. In the Data Source Name text box, type “myADOMDDatasource” and click
Finish.

e. From the Data Source Editor Window, in The name of the server text box, type
“localhost”.

f. From the Database Name drop-down box select Adventure Works DW.
g. From the Cube Name drop-down box select Adventure Works.
h. For Cache interval in Minutes choose 30.
i. Click on Test Connection.
j. Click OK in the dialog box confirming a successful connection.

k. Back in the Data Source Editor Window, click OK.


3. Publish Data Source a. Notice the red exclamation point on the newly created Data Source indicating that
it has not been published to the server.

b. Right-click on the myADOMDDatasource Data Source and select Publish from
the pop-up menu.

4. Add a second data a. In the Workspace Browser, right-click on the Data Sources folder and select
source Insert from the pop-up menu.

b. In the Select Data Source Window, click on the Ops Spreadsheet.

c. Click OK.
Note: Notice how this does not need to be published. This is because the Data Source
already resides on the server.
5. Add a new KPI a. In the Workspace Browser, select the KPIs folder and, in the right-side pane,
under Create KPI based on: click New definition

b. In the Create KPI Wizard, in the KPI Name text box type “mySalesAmount”.

c. Click Finish.
d. Save you workspace.
6. Link the KPI Actual a. Notice the red exclamation point on the newly created KPI indicating that it has
value to a Data not been published to the server even though you just saved the Workspace.

click on Actual and select Edit from the pop-up menu.

c. In the Actual Editor window, select Data Mappings on the left-hand side.

d. In the right-hand pane, in the Data Mappings section, select


myADOMDDatasource from the Data source name: drop-down box.
e. In the Measure Source section, select Sales Amount from the Measure drop-
down box.
f. In the Time Intelligence section, select Ship Date.Ship date.Calendar Year from
the Time Dimension drop-down box.
g. Select the Use Static Members radio button.
h. Click the Browse button to the right of the Current Time Dimension text box.
i. In the Select Member Window, expand Ship Date.Ship Date.Calendar Year >
All Periods, and select the CY 2003 folder and click OK.

j. Back in the KPI Details Editor window in the Time Intelligence section click the
Browse button to the right of the Previous Time Dimension text box.

k. In the Select Member Window, expand Ship Date.Ship Date.Calendar Year >
All Periods, and select the CY 2002 folder and click OK.

l. Back in the Actual Editor window click OK.

7. Publish new KPI a. In the Workspace Browser, right-click the mySalesAmount KPI, and select
Publish from the pop up menu.

“myScorecard”.

c. Click Finish.
9. Add an objective a. In the right-side pane, under the Definitions tab, in the Scorecard Elements
section, click the Create Objective icon.

b. In the Object Editor window, under General Properties, in the Name text box,
type “myObjective”.

c. Click OK.
d. In the right-side pane, under the Definitions tab, in the Scorecard Elements

section, click the Add a KPI icon.

e. In the Add KPI to Scorecard window, select the mySalesAmount KPI.

f. Click OK.
g. In the right-side pane, under the Definitions tab, in the Scorecard Elements
section, click the Move Right icon to move the KPI under the objective.

10. Add a new report a. In the right-side pane, select the Report Views tab.

c. In the Create Report View window, select the New definition radio button. Click
Next.

d. In the Report View Name text box, type “myReportView”.

e. Make sure that Pivot Table is selected in the Report View Type drop-down box.
f. Click Continue.
11. Edit the new report a. In the Report View Editor window, in the left-hand pane, select Configuration.

b. Make sure that Group 1 is selected in the Group drop-down box.

c. Click the Commands and Options icon.


d. In the Commands and Options window, select the Connection radio button, and
click Edit.

e. In the Data Link Properties window, click the Provider tab and click Microsoft
OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0 and click Next.

f. From the Connection tab enter Localhost for Data Source in step 1. For step 2
click the radio button for Use Windows NT Integrated security. For step 3, click
the drop-down box and select Adventure Works DW.

Note: If Adventure Works DW does NOT show up as an option, double check the
previous steps.
g. Click OK which will close the window. This will bring you back to the report
view window.
h. Click the Commands and Options button again. In the Use Data From section,
click the drop-down window and select Adventure Works.

i. If the window does not close automatically please close it.


j. Observe the changes in the Report View Editor window, and click the Field List

icon.

k. In the PivotTable Field List window, Scroll down and click Sales Amount. Click
the Add to radio button with Data Area selected.

l. In the PivotTable Field List window, scroll down and expand Ship
Date.Calendar Year.. Click on Calendar Year. In the Drop-Down window
choose Column Area. Click the Add to button.

m. In the PivotTable Field List window, scroll down and expand Geography.. Click
on Country. In the Drop-Down window choose Row Area. Click Add to.

n. Click OK.
12. Publish the scorecard a. In the Workspace Browser, right-click myScorecard, and select Publish from
the pop-up menu.

13. Deploy the a. Open the Browser which should take you to the Contoso Home page. From the
Scorecard to a Site Actions tab on the right hand side choose Create Page.

b. For the Title enter SCDemo. For the page type, choose (Welcome Page) Intranet
Home.

c. Click Create.
d. Click Add a Web Part from the Middle Left Zone.

e. Scroll to the bottom and Click on All Web Parts in the bottom left hand section. If
this does not exist then you are already in this mode.

f. Scroll down to Miscellaneous and check the box for Office Scorecard View.

g. Click Add. This will add the web Part to your zone.
h. In the Web Part, Click Edit and choose Modify Shared Web Part.

i. Choose MyScorecard from the Select a Scorecard drop-down window and Click
OK.

j. Click Add a Web Part from the Middle Right Zone.

k. Click on the Advanced Web Part gallery and Options link. This is another way
to add the web Part.

l. Click on the Server Gallery.


m. Drag the Office Report View Web Part to the Middle Right Zone.

n. Click on Edit in the new Web Part. Scroll Down and Choose Connections ->
Consumes Data From -> Office Scorecard View.

o. In the Web Part, Click Edit and choose Modify Shared Web Part.

p. Click the Check Box 1 and Click OK. This will link the Report View you created
earlier.

h. Back in the Scorecard View Editor window click OK.

i. In the Workspace Browser, Right-click myScorecard and choose Publish.


j. Click back on the Browser and click refresh.
15. Add an indicator a. Click back on the Microsoft Business Scorecard Builder.
b. Click on the Indictors folder in the Workspace Browser pane.
c. In the right-side pane under Insert: click Indicator from server.

d. In the Select Indicator window click the Details tab.


e. Click on 3 Lights and choose OK.

f. In the Workspace Browser, select the mySalesAmount KPI.

g. In the right-side pane, select the Definitions tab.


h. In the Actual and Targets section, right-click Default Target, and select Edit
from the pop-up menu.

i. In the Target Editor window, select Data Mappings from the left-hand pane, and
change the Current text box value to 30,000,000.

j. In the Target Editor window, select Thresholds from the left-hand pane, and
select 3 Lights from the Indicator name: drop-down box, and click OK.

k. In the Workspace Browser, right-click the mySalesAmount KPI, and select


Publish from the pop-up menu.

l. Click back on the Browser, on the SCDemo page click refresh.


m. Observe the changes.
n. You may now make any additional modifications that you like. We suggest that
you try additional formatting and Data choices.
